Algae in my RTW trays

Posted (edited)

I have dripper rings set up into fabric pots. These sit in rtw drain trays which are plumbed to run to waste. This is good because I have no pumps on the waste just gravity dealing with the run off.

I have noticed a lot of algae growing in the trays. Can this be reduced or eliminated? My main worry is it may block the drain pipes and cause my system to overflow.
