Lime green & brown spots

Good morning

Uk420

I've just got my introduction out of the way and I'm quite excited to see if the forum can help me save my plants. Maybe there is nothing to worry about but my plants just don't look right.

I mentioned in my introduction how I had previously grown some auto strains by paradise seeds and sweet seeds. Back then the grow was very basic. No filters, No extraction, No nutrients, just a 125w CFL and some mineral water from tesco. The yield wasn't the best but the smoke was fantastic. After a few months I had to  stop for many reasons, I started smoking again last year because of the anxiety I was suffering from with regards to covid. I was spending £70 a week on street weed and at times I'd be buying more. I thought I'd ditch my dealer because most of the time his weed was ultra crap. He always said it comes from Amsterdam. Yea right!

With the help of a very close friend I spent a good few months Converting my attic into my new grow space. It's still not finished as I've yet to construct a door, I just have some green plastic to trap in the heat and humidity.

Afterwards it wasn't long before I germinated my seeds, popping them into a glass of cooled boiled water until they had sunk and then using the paper towel method to sprout them, Once they had shown their tap root i planted then in the very same soil that I used all those years ago.

But this time they were under an invisible sun ISH240 and gradually increased to full power and at 24 inches at all times.. Their growth seem to be quite slow but after 2 weeks they kicked off. I hadn't fed them any nutrients but because they had lost their cannabis green colour to an almost yellow lime green. I fed them some of that

Ionic bloom @ 3.5ml per litre to begin with then afterwards I went onto 5ml and then (7ml. which is what's stated on the bottle)

I then went out and bought a cheapo pH metre to make sure the pH of my nutrient feed was somewhere between 6.2 and 7...i remember reading that the Ionic nutrients will dial in the correct pH when added to tap water so there would be no need for pH down the pH was 6.4 after adding the recommended dose of 7ml per litre.

So far they've only been fed 3 times, Once I'd done my first measurement of the run off, the pH was as low as 5.1. And I figured it was time to join an online cannabis growers forum.

As I believed I was on the verge of a lockout. I'm sure some will say there's no need to ph while growing in soil.

The strains I'm running are seedstockers BCN critical xxl autoflower. I Was surprised to see how cheap they were @ under a 10r for 5 seeds.

Again just like my very first grow. No filters, no extraction. Just a different light and some nutrients. Same soil. I just don't get it. Is it the water. I remember some guy in a grow shop telling me that here in Scotland we have the best water in the UK. So with his comment I thought I'd use water from the tap instead of buying mineral water.

So

The soil is a mix of westlands mp compost with added JI. And 30% perlite.

7 litre pots

Atm the light is 24 inches away and running at full power.

The humidity is approximately 50-60%

Lights are on 24 hours a day

Temperature is always between 25 & 26 °c

Using dechlorinated tap water.

Agitated by an air stone.

Watering every second day.

I'm convinced they're Hungry but I've already fed them with no improvement.

It's day 54 and they're supposed to be ready in 80 days. I'm about to dump them in the woods as they are just causing me misery each and every day I go and check on them. 2 weeks ago they looked amazing. Now they just look like f***** a***oles.

I'll get pictures to follow very shortly when I figure it out

Thank you for the visit and thanks in advance for any comments.

Can't really help too much without pictures, but your temps are a bit low.  I thought you were growing in Spain or something with the lack of filter.  If you don't plan on buying one I'd dump them in the woods anyway.

If you've fed them from the start then they are probably going to be overfed as the compost has nutrients in it already. Trying to grow without extraction isn't going to work out well :(

I'd have thought the temperature is fine. Too many reputable websites state that 25°c is perfect.

No neighbours no filter.

I'll dump them in the woods then.

Thank you

No feeds from the start... I feed when I noticed their change in colour which would of been when they started to preflower. I'm basically trying to copy a grow from the past. Keeping things simple. No extraction just a passive intake. And again no neighbours no filter

Think your right fatboy77. I think I will dump them in the woods. No need to add pictures now.

Thank you for your input.

No filters, no extraction.

Even if I didn't have neighbors, I wouldn't want to be growing without a filter. Its just too much of a risk, you never know what might happen, do you really want to be in a situation thinking "fucking hell I wish I'd got a filter" ?

But your extraction isn't just to remove smell, infact if anything its a nice happy coincidence, its to remove heat and co2 depleted air and replace it with co2 rich air. If you don't have any extraction, your plants will be sufficating slowly day by day. You could've got everything right and your plants would still have turned yellow and yielded fanny adams without extraction.

You try living every waking moment in full sun with no sleep and tell me how you feel lol Just because you can leave an auto on 24 hours constant light doesn't mean you should. 20/4 for low wattage lights, 18/6 for very high wattage lights IMO, but I don't grow autos ever so what do I know?

You don't have to pH compost, it comes limed and that neutralises the pH. If you are using salt based nutrients (like ionic) you'd have been better off purchasing an EC pen.

Don't be disheartened, I appreciate your keep it simple sentiment very much so, however things like extraction and lighting you need to get right for your little hobby to work. Get your extraction sorted, and use this as a learning experience, start a diary here with pictures and I can guarantee we'll all rally around to help you along and you'll be chonging fat doinks of more quality home grown than you know what to do with!!

Not necessarily but if you go onto the Scottish Water website you can check how hard or soft the water is in your area i.e. how much calcium and magnesium it has, the ratio of which is important.  There's some great info on this thread :-

Good evening Uk420.

I've been smoking some amazing weed lately. Definitely the best stuff I've ever had  *skywalker kush* yum yum.. Totally lost myself into another dimension. Now I'm on a T break. And it's my 6th day into it.

I'm now in the process upon setting up my outdoor grow location. I figured it's the way forward until I sort out air exchange and carbon filters. My lime green 4 have been dumped in my makeshift greenhouse.  Apart from their symptoms They look alot happier.

Wish I could figure out how to upload some pictures.

Do I need a laptop or computer to do this as I followed Instructions on how to add pictures to a gallery but I can't find an option to create.. Is it because I'm on the mobile version of Uk420.?

Thank quex

@Miss Pandora

It's much easier on Laptop as you just create a new image, but on mobile click on the menu (3 horizontal lines up top) -> browse -> Gallery -> scroll to the bottom, click 'Add Images'. From here create your gallery and upload photos.

You will need to resize your photos to upload them. LitPhoto for android is pretty good

Thank you so much for replying. Your guidance is appreciated.

But.... Sorry Uk420 that's just a carry on having to resize my pictures.

Am I allowed to upload the pictures to say imgur and post the links instead.

Cheers.
