Hi All,
I bought some Sugar Haze seeds from seedsman, has anyone grown these?? What s the high like?? I wanted a giggle high, is this a good choice?
Think it s genetics are a cross of Santa Maria ( columbian ) and haze..?!
Also, does anybody remember Sunbright systems???
Does anybody know the Kush variety they sold about 10 or so years ago..
Info would be great..Thanks..

hi ther quaff

i dont know about the strain ur asking about but i know that santa maria is a brazilian that has been used to make the lowryder#2 it has been add to lowryder to improve taste, yelid and high. the high is a more sativa high which i guess is more giggley rather that stoney.

allt he best anyway and im sure someone will be along with actual strain advise.

Sunlight Systems? Mate got an old catalog from back then. It was a Pink Lights that gave birth to that old-skool hardcore Kush (Kooooosh) that is knocking about.

hi quaff iam growing this strain at the moment only 4 weeks into the grow from seed but heres some info if it helps
The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is a mountain range in the Northwest of Colombia. It reaches an altitude of 5,700 metres above sea level, just 42 km from the Caribbean coast; it is the world's highest coastal range. The mountain range encompasses about 17,000 km² and serves as the source of 36 rivers.

It is the perfect habitat for a huge variety of plants including cannabis and many strains have flourished there. For over 40 years now cannabis enthusiasts and American hippies have included Santa Marta on their South American marijuana trail and certain varieties have deservedly earnt a good reputation e.g. Santa Marta Gold, a yellowing indica dominant strain.

In our Sugar Haze we have crossed a Santa Marta with Original Haze, one of the Skunkman’s most famous creations. The result is a fast flowering sativa dominant haze strain with a THC potential of around 23%. This strain has a sweet taste but is a heavy hitter and not recommended for the occasional user.

Through our selective crossbreeding techniques we have managed to reduce the flowering time on this strain to below almost all other haze strains, so much so that it can be grown outdoors in places, and should finish by the end of October

HI Big J,
Thanks for the info..!! Just what I needed and yes, I didn t read the packet correctly, it is Santa Marta!!!Cheers for that, and also apologies for my last post, I was pressing the wrong buttons...

My sugar haze, just 1 plant ( tho I have cutting s now !! ),is almost ready to chop..It is the sweetest smelling weed I ve grown, tho the yield is not great..It has stretched quite a bit but, is not unmanageable...It sounds like a great smoke too...I ll let you know how it hits..

How long has it taken.

Yeah, I was just looking at the Seedsman site yesterday (hadn't checked it for quite a while), and there's some really interesting stuff there. Cheap as chips, and looking promising.

I'm only sorry that my growing program is full for the next year sad.gif

Ata Tundra and Sugar Haze both caught my attention.

You hear of Santa Marta now and then; I think Reeferman used it quite a lot.

Sounds good, Felix, are you going to do a diary?
Keep us posted, anyway, I think this one might be a winner!
What's the projected flowering time?

Hi Gert,

Haven't started one yet as it's a bit of a mixed bag at the moment with a couple of other varieties on the go as well. The packet says 9 weeks flowering which seems somewhat optimistic but we'll see. You've grown Lieu Hanh before haven't you ? How did you find it ?

Felix.

No, I haven't, though I've got some seeds and would like to, at some stage.
What I did grow was an Apollo with a touch of Lieu Hanh in it, and it was very nice. Grew it for a while, still got a cut. Very regular, very fast, surprisingly punchy. Quite popular with most that have tried it.
It impressed me enough to get the LH seeds... some time next year, if all goes well.

Sounds very nice indeed Gert, as I said it was largely your description that settled me on it. cheers m8 thumbsup.gif

"Santa Marta Gold, a yellowing indica dominant strain."......... ???

Sativa surely ? Unless it is the result of some Himalayan strains being brought over and bred in to local stock ?

i remeber reading a bit about this strain on nivara site from the haze cup in holland and they really rated this strain dont know if it was sams strain? they said it was cutting only then.

Sugar Haze

1) Strain - Sugar Haze(Santa Marta Gold x Haze)
2) Breeder - Seedsman
3) Indica/Sativa - almost pure sativa
4) Grown Indoors/Outdoors (If grown Indoors list Type of Light and Wattage) - Indoors/HPS
5) Days flowered and trichomes color(s) - 95 days/Half cloudy,30% clear,20% amber
6) Medium used - My own organic soil mix
7) Nutrients - light Earth Juice feedings
8) Curing method and time - 7 days air dry/ 1 month in the jar so far
9) Type of high - Up/Down - Pure head
10) Potency - solid 8.5-9
11) Brief description of taste/effects - Hints of sweet 'n spice flavored stogie, earthy/Hazey and Mellow Euforia
12) Medicinal uses - good daytime smoke but more for recreation than pain relief. Not as anxiety causing as a lot of other hazes I've smoked or grown due to the Santa Marta's mellow/happy inducing effects
13) Additional information - The Sugar Haze is a perfect daytime or anytime buzz for that matter unless you're within 2-3 hours of bedtime. Plenty of the Haze effect and I really like the added feel good and euphoric feeling the Santa Marta Gold lent in the cross.

The first few weeks cure left a nice sweet and spicy taste and now with a deeper cure, as sats really do need, the potency has increased and the flavor although having a bit of the previous sweetness and spice of the haze is much more earthy and cigar tasting clearly from the Santa Marta Gold. 3-4 good rips keeps your head humming for a solid 3 hours. I've yet to reach the ceiling with this one. Friends and I have been more than medicated and reached or exceeded where we needed to be and I'm pretty sure we could have gone even further had we continued. Potency is not an issue!

I was kindly gifted these seeds from the Seedsman and now having smoked the final product I can tell you his genetics are very legit and massively discounted compared to other similar strains. In fact a lot of his strains are the same as the Flying Dutchman's, renamed for obvious reasons, and sold at wholesale prices. Authentic Sam the Skunkman breeding gear. I will definitely be running a few more of his sativa dominant strains later.

The keeper pheno does need 90-100 days to properly finish with plenty of lumens but was easilly worth every day.

yeild?
Got about 1/2 oz per gallon. Very respectable for a nearly pure sativa. I vegged for 2 weeks before the flip and last 2 weeks decreased to 10/14 to help them finish. There are 2 phenos I found. One is faster and a little heavier on the yield but the long fingered, tall branchy one is clearly the pick of the litter.
