Sorry to hear about your trip, must admit I wouldn't have taken a boat out yesterday. If you're after Tope, Cardigan Bay is better. Try a trip from either of the Abers..Dovey or Ystwyth or Barmouth. And for the big females, late May or early June is best.
Some skippers are sods aren't they

Arghh fishing from a boat in rough conditions a true test of ones metal i reckon, tying hooks on or baiting up whilst kneeling on the deck as she is rocking and ah rolling with a good bucket of spray coming of the sides, real mans stuff...!!
hey you should try this in the english channel mid feb over the varne bank, when a container boats goes by her wake sets a really confused sea for a good 10mins, mate you slop around like a stick in a bucket...!
Fcuk knows if you get any takes your just hanging on for grim..
And all the time skip is sitting in the cabin swilling the tea down, calling out over the mic "wreck coming up, over the wreck, ok lads thats it real them in" and bolloks your £10 perk has just snagged the wreck, oh well clutch in and let the boat snap you off...
Then back onto your knees trying to find another trace form the bottom of your box....
A good old dose of deasal fumes as he turns and motors back up tide to start the drift again....
Fingers like frozen sausages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But then when you get out there sometimes and the suns coming up over a glassy mirror flat sea, only a few mates on board, and the Bass are taking the gills on nice light tackle, arghh every bit as good as sex...
Not all skippers are wankers few good boats from Dover

couple of nice fish there mate. forgive my ignorance but what type of shark are they??
thats funny about the seal, although i m sure the seal didnt find it funny

i'm off sea fishing off the coast of wales in a week or so's time but nothing as deep as you, just going for a few mackerel for bait and see what we get from their, i aint a sea fisherman as such but i do enjoy a good day out with the boys.

Must say....haha...Good for the sharks!
Fishing is fishing...But Shark hunting is just tight! There should be laws against it.
Shark facts
Chondrichthyes or cartilaginous fishes are jawed fish with paired fins, paired nostrils, scales, two-chambered hearts, and skeletons made of cartilage rather than bone. They are divided into two subclasses: Elasmobranchii (sharks, rays and skates) and Holocephali (chimaera, sometimes called ghost sharks).
Animals from this group have a brain weight relative to body size that comes close to that of mammals, and is about 10 times that of bony fishes. There are exceptions: the mormyrid bony fish have a relative brain size comparable to humans, while the primitive megamouth shark has a brain of only 0.002 percent of its body weight. One of the explanations for their relatively large brains is that the density of nerve cells is much lower than in the brains of bony fishes, making the brain less energy demanding and allowing it to be bigger. Extant cartilaginous fishes range in size from the Dwarf lanternshark, at 16 cm (6.3 in), to the Whale Shark, growing to at least 13.6 m (45 feet).
Lifespan
Maximum shark ages vary by species. Most sharks live for 20 to 30 years, while the spiny dogfish lives a record lifespan of more than 100 years. [14] Whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) have been hypothesized to also live over 100 years.
SHARK INTELLIGENCE
Despite the common myth that sharks are instinct-driven "eating machines", recent studies have indicated that many species possess powerful problem-solving skills, social complexity and curiosity. The brain-mass-to-body-mass ratios of sharks are similar to those of mammals and other higher vertebrate species.[32]
In 1987, near Smitswinkle Bay, South Africa, a group of up to seven great white sharks worked together to relocate the partially beached body of a dead whale to deeper waters to feed.[33]
Sharks have even been known to engage in playful activities (a trait also observed in cetaceans and primates). Porbeagle sharks have been seen repeatedly rolling in kelp and have even been observed chasing an individual trailing a piece behind them.

Easthed, I would imagine most if not all those fish would have gone back alive and also they should have been tagged too, sea fishing isn't all mass fish kills these days, lots of people just fishing for sport and fishing catch and release these days.
Nice one Leepy, you lucky bugger I would love to go out shark fishing especially if I had the chance to catch some fine looking fish like yours.
Barbel last week, Tope this week, what you gonna do nextweek?

Good fish there Leepy, I'd love a tope and a few smoothhound!

It's a public forum mate..
Can post what i think..
I just know that sharks are intelligent and in my opinion it would be tight to kill them and after all i come here to share my opinion like every one else, But if you tag em and set them free, this isnt hunting.
Maybe if you had of stated this i wouldn't of made the comment.
Gutted you didn't catch any.

Didnt you find the shark facts interesting?

Uk420 is for hemp lovers. Tightlines is a subsection.
If you want 'fishermen' only, why not put a password on it?

Didnt mean offense i just didnt get the point. Hunting to eat is how it should be. Hunting for fun is in my eyes pointless and cruel.
Maybe i should of asked before i jumped in...
I dont think i was wrong in what i said. Shark hunting is tight, I am sure you will all agree?

Yeah, killing sharks is tight.
Hunting for fun is fun. Thats the point. Not that I go shooting or owt, but I can see the point, its pretty obvious. Most people who hunt DO eat what they kill, most fisherman put what they catch back alive.
Im going barbelling for the first time in over a week now. I've been waiting for the rain the weatherman said was coming but it dont look like coming. Chubbing for the first few hours, back to my baited swims (& hopefully the barbel) as dusk approaches.
