ok so i 1 visited my baby the other night but to my dismay something was abrupt!

some sort of bug had drilled a small sergical hole a few millimeters wide into the stem (i could see the shavings on the floor) and i now believe that the critter is living in there. I am certain that i have seen something about this before on here or somewhere but cant find the info for the life of me so any help would be greatly appreciated. My lady has taken a turn for the worse after this little attack dus this mean that its over?

i reckon there's a fair chance it would be OK if you can get shot of the varmint before it does any more damage - maybe tapping into the juices ... the important bits are in the outside of the stem. You may have to stake the plant to stop it keeling over.

How low on the plant is it ?

(any branches below it ?)
yabbad
its down low near the bottom i think most if not all of the branches are above. cheers for the help

yabbad

That happened to me too. It eat out the hollow of my plant. Check out the pics in my guerilla dairy. Very strange.

O the plant seems to be alright by the way so dont worry to much. I was thinking about blocking the hole with vasaline to trap it but doubt it would work.

yeah i stuck a little twig in the hole and am yet to go back to see what has happened. Does no one have a clue what it is then? cheers 4 da help

just had a look at a couple of websites and the general concensus was to try and stab it out with a thin piece of wire. apparently it's likely to be the larva of either a beetle or a moth. be prepared to support it.(the plant that is)

Hi.

Sounds like a beetle borer to me. They can tunnel into stems and restrict fluid flow causing the plant to wilt and maybe even croak it. You can eradicate the buggers by injecting rotenone into the stem apparently (or so it says in "indoor marijuana horticulture")

good luck with em!

i hear that tree sap is good for covering the hollow stems (where the hole begins just put some on there)
