Hi all!

I am currently building my first growdrobe 3ft wide by 2ft deep and 4.5ft high. So far I have purchased a 6400k envirolite and reflector (£40) for vegging. I work in a DIY Wholesalers, basically we supply the likes of screwfix, focus and all the little diy shops in the uk, fortunatley for me this means I have all the fixings, brackets, shelves, BULBS, bulb holders, etc readily available and pretty much free!
Anyway we sell alot of pallets of CFL's 8watt thru to 26 watt, no colour temps on boxes though, however we have loads of super thin flourescent tubes, of varying lengths and wattages, they are all stamped 3400K, I was wondering if I could use them on my grow for flowering along with a red envirolite (to be purchased).

With all the gear at my disposal I reckon I could build my drobe for approx £70. I will be starting a grow diary as its my first attempt and will be needing all the advice i can get! smoke.gif

Sure you could flower a plant or two in a 'drobe with said CFLs and fluoro tubes, but if you can manage to get a HID lamp (& ballast), it will more than pay you back in terms of yield and grow speed.

Hello, most cfl's that are sold nowdays are the warm colours (reddish) which are really good for flowering, more watts the better. The slim 3400K are closer to the blue spectrum and therefore shd b used for vegging, but will still work in flowering. I have 6 of these slimline link-n-light tubes in a small box for vegging.

What size envirolight did u get. 250w is obviously better than a 125w, but 2 x 125w gives more lumens then 1 x 250w.

As Scribble said, a HID esp a HPS lamp well be best but then you have to have a fan, and maybe a cooltube to get the light really close without burning the plant

I got the 125w Enviro hanging from above and was thinking the flouro tubes could be placed up the sides of my drobes walls. I thought the 3400K would have been closer to the 2700K mark than 6400K?

I decided to go the enviro route as I'm living in a shared house, which means shared electric bill! I also stay at the missus house alot so I dont feel as paranoid my house will burn down with HPS
