well, after like 20 hours of trying to get kubuntu linux running on my computer with the 3d desktop system beryl, it is finally running pretty smoothly and was it worth the effort??? i'll say, my windows spin into place when i open em up, burst into flames when i close em. They wobble when i move em round, even videos play and wobble as i wiggle the windows about. The windows go transparent when i move my mouse to a window behind, or when i move the window, itself.

all free and generally not much hassle to install and get working to get working if ya have an nvidia graphix card, not much fun if ya got an ati graphix card, though, but still possible...i'd say it really does bring the windows desktop system to a new level of prettyness, completely and utterly pointless but very good looking indeed

I think that plain vanilla Fiesty comes with the Beryl package as a default package now, although I could be wrong.

Yeah, it does - you can install it straight from Synaptic, along with the binary 3D graphics drivers from ATI or nVidia. thumbsup.gif

Beryl is the cats ass, took me ages to get it set up, though my graphics card really doesn't do it justice at all.
