I'm a first time grower and I decided to grow my own stash after reading a few posts on this forum. I thought about it and came to a conclusion around the beginning of April that I should grow outdoors. I already gave a friend 6 Lowryder seeds to grow inside his house under a 600 HPS and they had germed on April 22nd and they are currently drying right now. They will be ready in a few days cool.gif .

However I wanted a bigger stash and wanted to grow them with another friend. So I covered about 5 of Lowryder 2 seeds on the 8th June in a J cloth and they germed on the 10th of June. By this time I planted them in Westlands multi-purpose compost with added John Innes. They were left on the window sill and the pictures below was taken on the 14th June. I water them about once every 2 days and they seem to like it. Sorry about picture quality they were taken with a camera phone.

They are now under one 20w CFL energy saving bulb since 14th June at night. They are always on until bedtime and they are turned back on as soon as i wake. I will take pictures today to show progress.

The plants will go outdoors in about a week or just a little more. I'm intending to use a weak fan on the plants indoors to allow them to get a stronger stem.

Good luck. Probably not worth bothering with the CFL 20w. Why not just stick them on the window sill until they are ready to go out?

Good luck dude.

Just as matter of interest I'd like to know how others are finding growing with low-wattage CFL?

I'll admit I have years ago but not at the address where I live now. I have used as low as 7W (the screw-in spotlight type - I think they only consume 4 Watts when warmed-up but give equiv light output to 25W incandescent bulb) for vegging - it takes months to grow to any decent size (would I think be suitable for a 'mother' plant) - but is fine for vegging over winter and getting ready for sunlight. Bulb needs to be very close to plant or it will stretch like mad and be a weak scraggly thing.

Then again, don't take any tips from me on growing as I seem to have 'brown' rather than 'green' fingers.

Back again and took some photos today. They seem to have grown although one looks quite retarded? The leaves don't look like they're growing right or proportionally.

Is there a reason why I should use sunlight instead of the light?

Gom Jibbar
Because you will get shit loads more light on them on a window sill than you will get with a 20w bulb.
Solar9999
I see, thanks for the recommendation. I'll put them on the window sill tomorrow.
Warlock
whats happening with them?
Solar9999
They have been put on the window sill now and they look bigger than before. Sorry I forgot to take pictures but they doing quite fine. I'll take pictures on thursday or friday.

The mutant one looks as though it has the pair of round leafs at the bottom like the rest..but it has 4 bushy leafs while the other plants have only 2. Quite wierd.

keep us posted as i will be watching this grow
Solar9999
Hi again.

The plants have gained some good growth, new leafs are appearing although the stems still look weak. I will post pics possible tomorrow if I have time.

I am looking to plant out the Lowryders outdoors in about a weeks time. Before that I may have to repot them. Is it wise to pot them in a big plastic pot and then when I'm going to put them outdoors should I cut the bottom of the pot and place them directly in my plot with 50% my compost and 50% soil? I thought it would be better because it would put much less stress on the plants.

Hope you understand what I mean.

No answers? I'm planting it out today..

re-pot them as the roots fill the pots then when your ready to plant out carefully take them out of their pots and place in to the ground/mix.

i cant comment on the mix as i dont know...to be honest unsure.gif

but good luck m8

Here are the current pics taken. It is three weeks and a day in growth and will be planted out tonight for sure. They have grown a lot and I think I've identified all of them female yahoo.gif

There is only once pic since they all look the same and have similar growth.

hi solar .. don'y know if you have already put out the lowryders but i would say you would be better not bother repotting and just put them straight into your plot .. ( dig in some compost 1st tho mate ) ... if you handle with care you won't tress em mate . yinyang.gif

tongue.gif I can see a root tongue.gif
Solar9999
I have now planted out my lowryders and removed one male..hopefully that is the last male tongue.gif . I have seen 2 tiny buds on two of the plants which I'm quite pleased about and the sun today seems so right in me planting them out hehe. I haven't got any pictures to show you all unfortunately but I will do soon probably tomorrow.

However I aint got no protection against slugs or insects. Will get some tomorrow and spray the plants and use copper tape to deter slugs. Do you think anything major can happen within 24 hours from insects or slugs? I'm getting kinda worried lol.gif.

And what about wind? The stems of my plants are quite weak and I'm wondering could anything drastic happen to them? Do i need to use a bamboo stick to hold them up? Don't want to go there and find they have flown away lol.gif.

I also found out that it was just the right time to repot, which I didn't have to do since they're outside now.

Thanks for all replies though, learned everything about growing cannabis on this site alone. spliff.gif

Hi Bud !I dont think there would be to much problem with wind but any rain might knock them over so i would use something to keep them upright. Also if it does rain then the slugs will be all over them in an hour!If you think it might rain it better to do something right now.I have. spliff.gif Put down some more beer(Newcastle Brown ha ha).Use a bowl bout 4 inches high half full so they have to climb up and fall in.

Looking forward to the pics as this grow has moved on alot from a window sill grow.
Solar9999
went to the plot today to find all my plants uprooted sad.gif . However I aint gona take it to heart as this was my first own grow and took it more as a experiment lol.gif. The plants had just started to get buds as well so I'm quite sad. When I move into my new flat in september or october I will be doing an indoor grow though which might make life easier.

Peace out all.
The Man Machine
ahh crap. were they ripped or was it rabbits or something? My plants were ripped last year , i always knew it was a slightly risky site. its shit when you put effort in and see their progress only to see them pulled. i'm sure you will have a good indoor crop though! i am planning on starting indoors soon to . it will be great for next year when i can put out decent clones rather than little plants i dont know the sex of.

Sorry to hear about that 9999, was it animals or humans?
barefoot master
Thats crap solar! Did you have them caged up? Either way it's a bummer. Good luck with the indoor
Solar9999
It was uprooted by humans, I knew it wasn't a perfect spot but didn't think it would be discovered. Well now I know I was wrong lol.gif.
