Ive got a 360 and Im perfectly happy with it. Online gaming is superb, good graphics, great sound, reasonably priced. The only negative point is the lack of games. I always find myself inbetween games with nothing that grabs me whilst I wait for the next good 'un to come out.
I like the look of the ps3, but its way too dear still and in the first generations of a new console you always get toothing problems, Id leave this for at least a year.
The Wii, Im on my way to get one for my son right now. £170 with Wii sports, Illtell you how good it is in a couple of hours,
if I get a go that is

U strictly a gamer? U got any interest in other types hi def media?
got think of em as more than games console fer start n think what u want
360 tends be slightly more powerful hardware wise but more importantly is fuses services with cutting edge hardware and the software to go with.....the PS3 aint got that yet as its not as established and in the overall battle i stick my money now on MS the bar stewards for the time being til sony gets some time behind its machine

for me i go with PS3 just for the blu -ray i think even though the rest harware leans towards 360 slightly in parts the features of the PS3 would suit me more, looked price blu ray players?

Having played the GT4 HD download on the PS3 - admittedly with Projector and screen ....
I have to say it was jaw-droppingly good - graphics-wise....
It really looks the part - and as a wireless PC & Multi-media centre.... It's not that expensive.
Still - I think I'll be waiting a year or so to get one .....

I won't be getting a PS3. I really like the Wii as a family entertainment system, it is much fun.
... but I bought an XBox360 as soon as I could my hands on one.
I acutally thought mine had broken, but I've had a change around and tried it again and it works now, maybe I was just stoned or something.
Anyway, I've been playing Total War, GalCiv2 & Imperium Galactica II recently on the PC but I'm glad for a change from the strategy.
I've been playing Halo 2 today, I'm doing a few levels on the harder difficulty settings, I'm currently hiding under a rock with shit weapons while I finish tidying the house.
I enjoyed the online gaming I done on my Xbox with Halo2 & Rainbow 6 online.
I think I'll get this one online soon and get practicing in preparation for Halo 3.

Not a well informed opinion but i'd go with M$
Bought an XBOX for Project gotham 2, is the only title i've played since getting it (apart from the odd Iss pro4 match) Never played a driving game like it, every car handles and more important FEELS different.
Forza is a fantasticly developed game, but never gives the smiles that gotham does.
XBOX definitely the petrol heads choice!
PGR 3 looks
Then again Forza 2 looks excellent aswell, lets hope they've sorted the previously missing 'X factor'.
just my tuppence, will probably get a 360 when i finally complete PGR2 and prices have dropped further - unless i win the lottery and can afford a Porche GT1 - oooh baby

Just like the integra - but of an ugly duckling but wait till you go for a spin!

i own both (just sold my wii)
the 360 is a crappy built bit of hardware from my experience , onto my 3rd machine .
the games lineup for it due is fantastic, loads of exclusives , peripherals(controller is first class) for it are great , online system and marketplace is exellent , soon to come video marketplace looks brilliant .
basically , sucky hardware (imo) fantastic software and services .
the ps3 is a lovely built bit of kit .
the games lineup for it is sparse with only a few great looking games as exclusive to the system , controller sucks i cant stand the thing , online system is all over the place but shows promise , this 'home' malarky they have comming looks pretty neat if done right , there marketplace has loads of potential if they get off there ass , if you have a psp you can do loads of neat shit with the ps3 .
basically , nice hardware , potentialy good software and services .
if i could only have one , it would be the 360 .

Had a 360 from launch and am still on first machine thankfully, owned a ps3 briefly and sold it straight on. For me it is all about good games and great online play. The 360 is the only choice if it is a toss up between 360 and ps3. The wii is a great console but the 360 will have your jaw on the floor. Xbox live is the flagship for online gaming..try it and it is hard to go back to anything else.

I have a PS3 and my bro has a X360 Elite (the black 120gb edition). We both been gamers since kids.
For me the PS3 works out perfectly. I havent gamed online and PS3 was an awesome way to get into online gaming. The online is free and more stable and mature than XBL. On XLB you will have to deal with alot of younger kids who cheat, cuss at you and call rasicst names. Im too old for that and I just want to play a game and maybe share a couple laughs with the guys im playing against. The people on the PS3 network are all really cool and I like that. XBL is $50 us a year while Sony will never go to online fees. Sony online is very stable and nobody cheats or system mods. microsoft recently made a move to ban any modded consoles so WATCH OUT! Your system will be permanetly banned from XBL if you mod.
Games I have right now are Motorstorm, Full Auto 2 and Call of Duty 3. All are super fun regardless of what anyone says they are the types of games Ive only dreamed about playing. Next Im getting Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted Drakes Island, Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Metal Gear Solid 4. X360 has some great games out like Gears of War and Forza 2. Compare games and see what you like but the kind of games on PS3 are personally more appealing.
When you buy Xbox, be aware of the fact that you are buying a Microsoft product. They will penny pinch you and charge you additional $$ for content on games you already own. Developers frequently release new free content for their games but Microsoft charge $$ which they pocket to download (on top of your annual subscription fee) this content AND they will lock you out of playing with your friends unless you buy the upgrade. Sony gives developers the freedom do whatever they wish with the online portion of a game, and I think this is a great thing.
I dont even have to mention the Sony hardware. Sony puts the X360 to shame in that department.
Looks goes to Sony also. The X360 looks like a Dell Optiplex
The decision for me was simple. I told my bro that if were ever gonna play games while were apart that hes going to have to get a PS3 or well upgrade our PCs to gaming standards and link up for free. Or he can bring over his X360 and put it on my HD when he comes over. But I dont want to support money towards a console with mainly PC type games with an added online service fee. The X360 has a good experience and so does the PS3, but they are unique and I would do some research about what types of games you want to play and what hardware they come with. They are not comparable products, you have to make a choice.

I think both the 360 and PS3 can be considered as the same, cheap half assed tat at silly money for what they are.
So I got the cheapest 1 and they can get stuffed if they want £80 for a 20G hard drive to bolt onto the outside ffs.
They're basically PCs slapped together with the cheapest parts by the cheapest manufacturer.... and all that entails. Yeah they're geared up on the graphics front and the processors go faster than they need to at the moment but when all said and done that's basically all they are, with HD capabilities.
The choices you've got are really do u want to play MS titles or Sony titles like GT4 or Forza and the Halo series. A breadbin or an Optiplex next to your TV. Do u want MS unreliability and the joys of paying for Xboxlive and game content or the overpriced Sony offering and bluray. Do u like the feel of Sony's small asian design influenced controllers or can u reach all of the butons on the larger MS controllers.
Whichever 1 u do buy, get ready for the words............ LOADING LOADING ...... it's like waiting for a bloody ZX Spectrum ffs
The Wii on the other hand (I'd best wipe that off then

) is something altogether different imo. A console designed for the games they wanted to make, not the other way round.

Only the original Xbox was a cheap PC.
Other manufacturers used processor chips, but at least the console designs were imaginative, i.e. the SNES using the 65816 chip
There is no way that consoles like the Sega (Saturn and Dreamcast), Sony (PS2 and PS3) or 3DO could ever be described as cheap PCs, their designs are far too elegant.

without the wireless controller, the Wii is just an upgraded gameCube. Have a look at the specifications for the Wii on the internet and you'll soon come across the words "gameCube compatible".
Ever since the NES came came out, console design has been more advanced than the eqivilant PC design until Microsoft brought out the Xbox and then Nintendo just got lazy with the Wii.

PS3.
PSX couldn't be beaten nothing came close, same to be said for PS2 deffo.
PlayStation IS number 1. It's more powerful than the 360 and the games will come, you have to remember it's virtually new compared to the 360.
And on that not the No.1 idea would be wait for a year, one reason so the price comes down, seccond reason because I like to be proved right which reminds me, when dreamcast and PSX came out about the same time I didn't know which one to get, but ended up happy so obviously I chose PlayStation.
Come on, you can't line microsofts pockets beside what a beautiful interface on the PS3, it can do loads of shit the 360 can't, get a 360 and you'll regret it if the whole BlueRay disk thing kicks off big, which it should being better than HD DVD.
If I could afford it, I'd get a PS3. Dunno the specs of either much, or the prices or the games or anything, but I do know PlaySation is king.
Like I said dunno the specs, except the PS3 I 'heard' is classed as a supercomputer and I 'know' that cell processor is some fucking future shit, oh and if you're into it you can run linux on a PS3 but of course the PS3 still keeps it's primary software

. Very nice.
Did you say you were interested in online play, I think the PS3 service is free.

Thats to be expected as XBL servers are far more extlablished than the ps3's
Also for all the i only love the sony PS3 and nothing else .. the ps3 is yes ''new'' but the softwear it uses has been sat there since the 360 lanch

the 360 is far better value for money unless you need a blueray disc burner that is iv played bother consoles and still like the 360 better for everyother game other than like i said earlyer football games .. and controlers are better

I refuse to get into the fanboy stuff. Thats childish behavior. If you have anything productive to add about your system (360 or PS3) then add it. ehh

im just pullin ya chain rydeon, but i most certainly do have the experience , i just thought your recomendation was pretty biased
its hard to run off lists of games without knowing what the OP is really into ,
looking at this years titles for both systems that are exclusive .
360 (£200 if all you want todo is play games)
mass effect - rpg
halo -fps
forza 2 - racing sim
blue dragon - jap rpg
too human - action adv
bioshock - hybrid fps
Ps3 (£400 if all you want todo is play games)
heavenly sword - action adv
ratchet and clank - platformer
(maybe) metal gear solid - action/stealth
keep in mind the 360 gets timed exclusive on all PC/360 games , and also had timed exclusives on fifa and pro evo .
this year the ps3/360 will also get some good multiplatform games , GTA 4 ect . these games are noramlly knocked up first on the 360 and 'ported' to the PS3 , and as ive said before , these ps3 controllers suck ,
but again as ive said , im on my 3rd 360 , my launch machine was broke , they fixed it within a week , this machine then broke 3 weeks out of warranty and they wanted £85 quid to repair it , so i went out and bought a brand new machine for a little extra (£195 as i already had harddrive)
if you have a HD TV , the BluRay on the PS3 is pretty sweet aswell i suppose

Of course I like the PS3 more, I bought it. Its got the variety of games I want (much different than X360s library you have to admit) and believe me there are way more than a handfull I am looking for. That is a very inaacurate statement, however do your research I dont want to waste anyones time listing off dozens of games. I dont have anything against X360 I talked my bro into getting one instead of a Wii. We want to wait for a black Wii. I cant believe you sold your Wii corleone why did you do that? I can see making some money off of ebay I guess that is a good reason to sell it. But we cant be bothered with participating with the ant craze at Best Buy on Sunday mornings. So we will buy a Wii when the madness settles down and they release a black Wii probably next spring. I cant wait for that new Super Smash Bros and I am a Metroid fan and a SSX fan as well. Gotta have my SSX games at any cost!! I just have 1 console right now and will ultimately end up with 2 within the next 5 years. Not too excessive I dont think. I spend $600 on the system at the store and $100 on three games (ebayed that shiit). Sounds like alot I know but to be honest I was going to spend $200 for a HD upconvert dvd player $150 for a PS2, and $400 on a lap top to store all our MP3s on the main stereo. The PS3s became in stock in our area so it was a no brainer. It does all of that plus much better, now I just stream my 100 gigs of music from this PC to my stereo that my PS3 is hooked to with taking up HD space. I'd say Im honestly $800 in with tax and a new controller. Im happy. Ive always been the person to spend an initial premium and keep the product for a long time, than spend less and update frequenly.
EDIT, these are american dollars. for you guys i dont know. im inclined to think that would be 400 but that doesnt seem right to me.

then you got all the things that take skill and with leaderboards , nothing better than wacking on something like this for 5 mins .
then you got your classic multiplayers thats always on when im entertaining , pass round the bong , lose a weeks wages on fifa....

Greetings,
I bought a Wii as a stop gap until the PS3 came out. I have given the Wii to Mrs Buff, and I haven't looked back with my PS3 since it came out

. I'm not too keen on anything Microsoft as Bill Gates is the real and honest to god anti-christ

.
I'd go for a PS3 if I were you m8, then buy a 42" 1080p HDTV to go with it. When you get one, add me as a friend

Peace and one love
