Rather than wade through the original Arrgg thread trying to work out how to play
rule the seas I thought current players could leave they're favourite tips here for new players.
I'll start the ball rolling with stay in the Loading Dock until you're forced to leave. There are lots of people waiting to rob newbies who leave cash on show so bank it as soon as you get it.
Train as much as you can. Your speed rating should be about 20% higher than your strength and defence ratings. Don't worry about seamanship too much in the lower levels.
Don't be too eager to move up the levels. You're better off spending yout time, points, and energy, training.

I'd say get up the levels and always live in the biggest house u can afford - both help raise your stats way quicker.

I agree with the biggest house but I've found the slower you go up the rankings the less time you spend in hospital.

A bonus of levelling up slower while getting your stats high is when you get to moderate levels you can beat pirates a good few levels above you, which gives you WAY more experience than beating pirates at the same level or lower. Try spying on pirates a few levels above, it costs a lot but you attack for experience not money (mug for money) and you may find a total weakling a good few levels above who will net you thousands of experience per battle.

Another point to balance is how much to spend on your home and how much on clothing. You need to be covered in basic attire and have a roof as soon as possible. If you're accepted into a gang they'll probably provide the essentials but if you're on your own I'd recommend making a home your priority then kitting yourself out as best you can.

I've just joined (username: Scribble_UK420) and am in the Loading Docks - can I join the UK420 crew, please?
And if so, can anyone spare any kex or anything like that, as I'm feeling a bit nad-shrivelled walking around like this - what a funny sight I must have been stealing that rum and a pig in me birthday suit!
It is worth gambling, then - as I have used up all my training points, and I was thinking of becoming a beggar as work goes, for now?
Any further advise, pls?

Make sure you get your free points and cash every day by clicking on 'vote for us and get rewards' at the top left of the screen and follow the links.
Only attack offline players to avoid counter attack. And attack non respected pirates. Respected pirates have put money into the game and are therefore more likely to have higher than expected stats.

DON'T put stuff up for sale and then log off. You'll come back to a mess from people mugging you for whatever money you made.

Aye. For me the first priorities in the game are 1. A bank account - get one as soon as possible. Don't buy anything until you've got a safe place to store yourcash. 2. A house. If you plan on joining a gang don't bother buying a weapon or armour, you'll get given one or loaned one on joining. A decent house is one of the most important things you can buy. DON'T buy a pet, DON'T bother with a boat, put all your early resources into moving up the housing ladder at least until you're in a small flat, preferably a house. And use any points you get (like the daily free points) to train. Don't sell them, the points market seems like a nice earner, but early on in the game you need all the training you can get, points mean energy means training.

NewsflashDo not attack banned players, it may lead to you being banned.
I messaged Capt. Morgan asking if attacking banned players would lead to banning after being told this by another player and received this reply ...

I'm not fond of it, we'd warn you first. Please don't attack banned players.

Sorry, I'll make the rule more clear somewhere.

It goes down all the time you're active and refills very slowly unless you have a suplly of Awake Pills. When you train or attack it goes down much faster so you have to decide what you need to do first.

Health points. If you're in a battle or beaten by guards you're health is reduced. You'd usually be sat in the IW aswell but not always. If you are not in the IW and you're health points are low you're also open to attack from near enough anyone who fancies a go.
edit: to make sense.

Thank 'ee shipmate, it's a lot to take in all at once.
3 sites to keep an eye on and learn.
It certainly helps to have some old salts in the crew willing to take the time to help.

No probs. Another point on Health Points, if you're looking to beat players of far higher level than yourself keep an eye on the Injury Ward. Not at those injured but the attackers or victorious defenders. If you check their profile the HP maybe on less than 10% making them a sitting duck.

Just find the gang you like the look of, click on their gang page ( bit in the [ ..] brackets ) and click apply for new gang.
They'll probably ask for your stats and check you over first but that's it basicly.

actually, only a few gangs check stats. these are the ones that you will want to join since they normally want to know so they know how they can help you. the majority of gangs will accept every douchebag who applies and then forget that they are even alive! I check stats after they are in and then figure out how to help them.

how do you make monies on this game, I dig for treasure and lucky dip every day but other than that how's it done. Mugging occasionally gets me 10k or so but it's hardly the 1.2M i need for that small flat by the sea I've been looking at... I've tried buying stuff and sticking it on the market but i end up being mugged for as much money as i make since no-one seems to buy anything while i'm online
