wasnt sure where to post this... Just stupidly dropped my pH pen into the tank. Managed to get it giving readings again after drying the insides out a bit. But seems to be giving out the wrong readings out. Dont have a clue how to calibrate the thing, no instructions were given with it.
Was a bit cheap, so you guys reckon its knackered for good or can it be calibrated? if so any simple ideas on how to calibrate, and what i will need?
cheers in advance

if its an orange ph pen it will still work mate an to calibrate u want a bottle of buffer 7 an all u do is put some in a cup turn your ph pal on stick it in if it reads lets say 7.5get a real small screw driver an at the back of your phpal is a small hole put it there an turn very very little it will go up or down get it to bang on 7 job done throw the buffer down the drain an wash your ph pal in clean water b4 you test the ph in your tank

Dunno really but I was going to buy one of those cheap pH meters until someone told me they don't last very long - anyone have any idea how long they do last?

its not an orange one, its a beige coloured "PH-03(I)" from america i think. But it has a very small screw on the back so will try what you said.
cheers mate
ps: bod, i believe if you calibrate them when needed they will last for long enough. The crappy little test kits really are a HUGE hassle once you have used a (cheap) pH pen. Mine needs calibrating now so am using the liquid test kit, and they really are annoying trust me...

Thanks, it was the "PH-03(I)" I was actually looking at by extraordinary coincidence. I may have to get one.
