can some one explain this to me 2.76ms/cm2 its on the botles of calibration solution

is it a ec of 2.7 and cf 27 or 2.0 and 20 unsure.gif
Chris P
My EC metres are calibrated at a pH of 4.0 and 7.0.

I've looked on my bottles and I can't see anything like that. I presume it is a measure of the concentration of the buffer in the solution, 2.76? per cm2. unsure.gif

you calibrate you ec meter with PH BUFFER doh.gif nea.gif

what kind of meter is it? i thought they were factory calibrated. but maybe your is different

Dip your ec meter in and it should read between 27 and 28 or 2.7 and 2.8 whichever way you read it

Ph meters are done with ph buffer 4 and 7 wink.gif

lol.gif sorry you caught me out there, my EC meter is pre-calibrated, so I presumed it must be pH you was calibrating. I thought if mine doesn't need calibrating then why would others?

Forgive me lol.gif (and I'm not even stoned), I'll try to read the question properly next time. yinyang.gif

Hi Owderb smile.gif
well thats what i would of thought 27
but i have just tested it and its 20 on the meter and i done it again with brand new batteries in the meter and its the same 20 so still not sure unsure.gif is the meter broke or is the solution 20 unsure.gif doh.gif

If the conductivity fluid you are using is 2.76 then thats what it should read mate wink.gif

sounds like i need a new meter then doh.gif
its good i checked it then because they calibrated at the factory but they dont always stay true i thought i was going through a bit of nutrient doh.gif

Hopefully they'll be no need for a new meter, just adjust your meter till it shows 2.7 (while immersed in calibration fluid) ... my meter always needs a little nudge one way or t'other after a couple of months smile.gif

Bad one pinch.gif
I'm sure you can get replacement 'tips' for those wands... prob cost a bit though,
got me a cheapo meter a year ago from de bay and its still pretty much spot on

if its like a bluelab truncheon or the nz truncheon they can't be calibrated.
Chris P
If it is 0.7 out, can't you just minus 0.7 off your readings unsure.gif

how ?

sorry i a stoner doh.gif
Owderb
First thing i'd do is change the batteries and get some Cif cleaner or similar and give the probe a clean, then always stand your meters in fluid when not in use wink.gif

Owd
Rubixx
I was going to mention perhaps cleaning the probe, I have just figured to do this to mine and am waiting on the solution.
SirBob
What kind of liquid should you stand an ec pen in owderb?

Bob yinyang.gif
Owderb
In the calibration fluid mate wink.gif

I stand my truncheon in a little plastic pot with fluid in ad my ph pens have always got ph buffer in the lids when i put them away wink.gif
