hi all im just starting up a fresh grow after being out of the growing game for a while and i intend to veg around 8-14 plants up to around 18inches what light would be good for this.heat wont really be a problem and nor is space smile.gif

For just vegging i would go with a 400w mh in an area 3ft by 3ft that should get you some very nice results.

At the least a 600, but if you can cool, then a 600hps and a 400 halide would be the best imho, how big is your space? dont see mention of 3x3ft.......

It depends what you mean by vegging.

In my grow, the final weeks of vegging is done in the flowering pots, under the same lights I use for flowering.

This is how I vegged 8 seedlings in my current grow :-

Weeks 1 and 2 from seed - 7cm pots under 140 watts of fluorescents.

Weeks 3 and 4 - 13cm pots under a single 250 watt lamp.

Weeks 5 and 6 - 18cm pots under two 250 watt lamps.

Weeks 7 and 8 - four females in 25cm pots under two 250 watt lamps.

well the plan is to grow plants to get a mother plant then take cuttings and then veg the cuttings till 18inches then put into my flowering room.im not sure of the size of the space i have as i havent moved into my flat yet but my flowering and veggin room will be the largest room of the flat so size and height wont be an issue.what size box do you recommend for 8-14 plants for veggin i already have a 250w hps light from previous grow i also have a 600w hps for flowering.

best light for vegging is a metal halide it keeps the nodes tight and stops the plant stretching as much as it would with an hps
If you can i would build 2 rooms side by side, one 3ft wide by 3ft deep with a 400mh for vegging. The other one 4ft wide x 3 ft deep with ur 600 hps for flowering. You can then extract both rooms with one larger extraction fan and cf rather than 2 smaller ones, all you need to do is make a hole in the wall between the 2 rooms and make a baffle to stop light getting from the veg area to the flower area and vice versa. The grow would only take up around 7 feet of space along one wall.
