hey people
right so i thought id give growing a go up in my attic and im wondering which would be best,
a grow "tent" from a garden place, or something solid made of wood or something?
i really dont want or need to get the po po's on my door either and i heard alot that
they can go over houses with a police helicopter with a thermal imaging camera on.
and actually "see" into peoples attics and see if they grow weed or anything, whats best to combat this?
(can thermal imaging cameras "see" through thick surfaces, such as wood?)
mainly wanna know because around here theres alot of people doing it so every month or 5 they sweep over
(and usually bust someone every 6 - 12 months but i think thats the big operation growers or dealers?)

also, on averidge how big do these "plants" get? would a space 2 x 2 feet be good enough (but 6 feet high)
or something like 3 or 4 feet sq?

and for lighting, anyone know the basic light a single plant needs in lumens? (i know its generaly 40,000)
ie: would it grow fine and grow good on an 8,000 lumen 125w envirolight? or would i need something like a 250w son-T or something like that.

i mainly want a crop within 2 months which is the advised time for my seeds (45 -50 days)
and only really want a max of 2 plants at the moment, plus im on a really tight budget for a setup which sucks.
so i could really use all the help i can get to be honest.

Grow tents are good, easy. But expensive if your on a budget. You could spend it on better things tbh...Can construct one out of wood for £30-£40 quid made from timber, mdf & mylar - £60 for a extract fan £100 easy... that's a grow tent right there.



Maybe, if you run lots of light that produces alot of heat in a badly insulated roof/building, then yes they may get suspicous and kick your door down. I very much doubt though helicopters can detect your low level lighting... I run a 600w in attic for ages no problem, regular copters round here aswell.



depends on strain methods... A typical indica dominant strain, 2-3ft? 6ft is good enough.



Your looking at least 7-8 weeks flowering (for any decent train afaik). From seed, it will take 2-4 months, maybe longer to harvest. But it's worth growing a mum for clones, this way you get a chance for a continous harvest.

Last important rule, do not tell anyone you can't trust!

summer is coming so a tent in an attic would be ok for the next few months but in the winter an attic gets really cold , so it depends on how long you intend on getting a grow on for m8??

thanks for the replys, well i should have some skunk #1 that only cost about £14 for 10 seeds
so dont have a clue what they grow like as its also my first grow, ill build a thick growroom i think
im guessing if i pile some extra wood ontop (providing its real solid too) they wont detect it,
i cant afford to tell anyone really, i live with my mum still and her nore my girlfriend are keen on weed
(even though the girlfriends parents smoke loads of grass and hash and her father even grows the stuff)

mainly want it to be low budget because i want to try some weed and i cant buy from local dealers
as people i dont want to find out would find out, smallish towns for ya!
also that i dont want to end up loving it and it costing me a fortune!!!

on the other hand if its not for me i can use the equipment to grow something else a love...

They can't detect your grow through the roof. If you were using multiple 1000 W lamps in the attic and not venting the heat away they might detect that the roof was hot, but for a small grow you don't need to worry.

The usual recommendation for growing space is one square foot per plant. How tall they grow depends on strain and growing style.

Does your mum know you are going to grow in her attic? It's not fair to her if you grow in her house without her knowledge. Plus she would quickly begin to wonder why you were spending so much time up there!

well i wouldnt tell her but she knows im interested in it so im sure shes guessed by now
not to mention im sure she wouldnt mind if its undetectable to the cops.

1 sq foot per plant seems so small for skunk #1 as iv seen a few videos and seems like they
will grow outwards as much as you give them and more.

so how exactly DO cops detect if your growing? just massive heat loads from 1000watters?
seems like they would have better methods to be honest seems like old technology.

Fuzzpot, an easy attic space can be made with the new insulation stuff they put into cavity walls.... its like rolls of bubble wrap but smooth and silver on both sides.... seen it on loads of building sites this year... You staple it to your rafters and then roll it down the inside of the roof. When you want a wall put in a load of staples then stretch the stuff tight to the floor and staple in place. You can buy silver tape to go with the wrap to seam up the edges and make it air tight. The silver surface also reflects really well, but the big bonus is it has the same insulation value as 2 inches of the normal insulation so it will help buffer against fluctuations in temperature inside the attic.... also you can add or remove vent holes etc and play around with your enviroment with just a roll of tape and a knife! thanks for the info, sounds like good stuff, ill check it out though, on another note, anyone ever tryed growing skunk #1 outside?
like without any lights or anything and left it to kinda fend for itself? seems a much easier way of growing and realised
that i could have slight trouble raising the funds to board out the attic for the growroom this month which makes matters worse.
