Hi just about to recieve some rooted cuttings in rockwool. I need to know in the next hour please
can i put the rockwell cubes straight in to the centre of my 7" pots surrounded with damp westlands JI with 30% perlite

There's absolutely no need to add any perlite to what is already a decent compost.

It's true about perlite.Before I came to this site I had used it religiously for years.

If you were to use 30% perlite,that 30% would not be actually doing anything for the subsoil organic processes,especially if you are growing organically,as organics relie's chemical processes that involve the breaking down or conversion of nutrients,with the help of micro-organisms,when in contact With your compost.
When in contact are the operative words I think.
perlite is just a damp air pocket in that it stores water on it's surface and air at its core.

sorry but i didnt want to start a new thread and this oen is really along the lines of what i need to ask.
See i am a religious user of perlite too.
But i shall stop now.
So maybe i can use vermiculite would that give me anything good? (i dont understand the difference betwean the two so sorry if i am being an idiot)

Westlands mp with added John Innes is just about an ideal compost for growing cannabis, it needs nothing adding. Its much better than any of the original JI’s. A lot of our members are getting great results with it. Adding perlite or other inert product to a compost is totally pointless and a complete waste of time except for taking cuttings.
