i think by the time you harvest you wouldnt notice them at all mate, well i dont anyway, and i know alot of others growing with westlands and biobizz and everyone seems to really like it, and i got to say that setup has produced my best tasting results so far smoke.gif

You are right in that I would prefer to grow organically, but feel the organic composts are often inferior products. Or inflated prices for an inferior product.
I was happy using allmix first couple of grows but found after that the quality appeared different. I don't expect to pay nearly £20 (including delivery)for a sack of compost that caused deficiencies for a couple of grows when all else was good. (temps air movement etc)

Switching to westlands with added JI at 3 sacks for £10 and no deficiencies seemed like a good move. And it did prove to be the right thing for me. I certainly don't notice any difference in taste of the end bud and suffered no deficiencies whatsoever. wink1.gif

I tried gem for some toms I grew in containers once. It was ok didn't grow any others alongside so dunno how it compared tho.

I have also used new horizon organic, wasn't too keen on that one cos it was all big lumps of uncomposted bark and wood in it. Which is possible not too fair as the grow environment was poor too that time so any probs could have been the result of temps.

EO.

the bag of new horizon looks ok mostly compost looking rather than bark
the gem looks mostly like wood chips and it drains well, too well smile.gif

peats not organic ? might not be ethical but I'm sure its organic ?
dirtbikeal
its the peat and added ji witch make it non organic and just for info i pmd ot1 a while back with a cple of questions and had a very good pm back from him he had looked at the contents of allmix and westlands mp and whilst none were truly organic he did say that westlands was just as organic as the allmix so why bother with allmix when westlands is 1/4 of the price yinyang.gif

Westlands also do 'Westalnds container and hanging basket compost with added JI', basically the same as the MP+JI except it has some water retaining agents added and it is richer in potash, I can water less often using this stuff.

Westlands MP with added JI is a good compost. I have used it often on recent grows. Very consistant and will not catch you out when nute addatives are required.
I will comment that it does have major problems with fungus gnats. Every grow has shown this with this compost.

I changed back to JAB JI #3 for main compost for an important grow as I know exactly where I stand with this compost. Ultra-reliable and consistant.
It does have small fallbacks as to watering, but on the whole, is a very reliable and consistant medium for compost grows when nutes are required.

I hate having to guess on composts. These two are very consistant. Just the nute levels to worry about. Not difficult.

And, IMHO, forget Allmix. I will not use it.
