I've decided to start this thread for various reasons, the first being to test out the new gallery posting tool.

This thread will take a while to form as I make various things and post them up but I'll keep putting the various methods and techniques in here so that they are all in one place. I'll mainly focus on the hashes, oils and jellies that I make and cure, but I'll also be including all the imports I come across as a comparison to show that YOU can make better products than even the most seasoned regional producer. Forget Afghani and Leb from the 70's, UK420 is where the best hash ever produced can be found.

Ever wondered how a certain hash or oil is made? Pose the question in this thread and when I have the trim I'll make it and show you how it's done and with my own tried and tested techniques. Feel free to add any additions or changes you would make, that's the idea. With a bit of luck we could come up with some great new ideas between us.

This is how I made it, basically by the same method as in my sig but with unbubbled trim, just manicured then dried. Hopefully the titles/descriptions from my gallery should explain the pics and the method.


Ingredients and utensils


Near Zero Impurity Keen-Newport London Butane


Lot#5 trim and Air Bud


Setting up the coffee pot


seal the gaps and squirt in


Trim in Liquid Butane


Ban Marie style evaporation for speed One pyrex dish contains hot water from the tap, the other goes on top for vapping in.


My paper coffee filter made from a wire coat hanger and pegs


Plunge the coffee pot and second filter through the paper


Sit back and watch it vap


When done it will form a layer on the bottom This was extremely clear for oil.


Scrape it up with a new blade Mmmmmmm


I then scrape it into a wrap of plastic


bung it in the freezer before tacking into a lump


Frozen it's easier to tack into a lump

After freezing, tack it about torelease trapped bubbles

Tack it into a ball and let it cure. I'll post pics of cured oil at a later date to show the difference.

Loads of spent trichomes are filtered out in the paper filter as this pic shows.

So next up is bubbling as the first step to jelly making. I'll then dry the trim out again and oil it for parts to the jelly mix. I've still got a few more bubble and oil runs to go before finally mixing it all together.

Bubble I made today:
This is from a salad of trim including Critical Mass, Grape Crush and Mexican Sativa. Unfortunately I don't have any bubble BAGS at the moment and am having to use an old set of Bubble SACS. Roll on the expo. This is just a brief run down to show what I did but there are better bubble guides in that sub-forum.

Stir, settle, stir, settle


Keep going until all capitate heads have been knocked off (about 45-60 mins in total)

A quick Q tho if I may.....how long do you cure your oil for?

About a month mate if it last that long. Here's how it looks today on the start - you can still see loads of bubbles.

Hash is a lovely thing, when it is well-made and clean. Not so much of it these days. Quite a lot still around the med. though.
Maybe this video has been posted before, I`m sure it has!
The band is from Israel, I believe, and the song has been re-mixed with the video. Israel has a lot of pro-canna people!

An update of the state of play today: I'm posting pics as I take them so the timescale of these posts is correct. The Lot#5 oil was made the day before I started the thread though.

The oil is looking very nice and smoothing out a bit now.

A point about this oil - it's probably the best I've ever made I reckon. I put this down to the strain used over anything. Look at this comparison to the last batch I made from different trim in exactly the same way:

The lot#5 oil is so much clearer and has a lovely smell to it. Not for the inexperienced toker.

I'll be making another batch of bubble today before I start making more oil then mixing jelly. The trim from the first batch of bubble is now drying out again before being oiled.

i was just wondering do you ever make your oil into paste or aka as budder ? i made some last night by accident i find it much nicer than oil so tasty and smother to smoke and you can handle it easy with out sticking to ya

To be honest mate I'm not quite sure what you mean by Budder/paste. I've heard the phrase a few times now but am not sure what it is. The oils will be mixed with resin on the main this time, I'll be making that later when I've got all the bits and bobs together. Is that what you mean?

So basically they're saying that if I take the oil I've made and whip some air into it, it will both remove remaining solvent and add airy bubbles instead. But they're using ISO instead of butane so will have a more contaminated product to begin with. If right - no I don't do that. I take more of a shanti, shanti approach and take my time.

The oil I made a few days ago has settled a bit now and today I'll do a spot of freeze purging to aid the process but otherwise I'll just leave it in a dark cool place. I'll post pics of how it changes - some people will be quite surprised I'm sure.

I'll do a post now of the new things I made last night but it will be a little while yet before the final products will be done.

So I made a new oil last night - looks great; plus I had another bubble run.

I found a bag full of buds that I'd saved for some reason even though I'd obviously oiled them already - ESBHaze buds. So I threw them in the coffee pot with the left-overs from the Lot#5 oil run and squirted in a couple of cans of butane to see if there was anything left in it all before I threw it away.

It made quite a healthy blob of nice oil.

Just out of interest gro - and sorry for jacking the thread re:budder - but how many hits/joints/pipes or whatever would u get from a gram of your delicious oil cos im sure at the end of the day with the genetics u sed and the skill u got Im sure this budder cant be much better if it is at al than what u make.

The budder will be nice but I guarantee that weight for weight that the Lot#5 oil is stronger but different. I've got some IPA on order and will get it soon. I'll make some budder then to prove a point. Plus I'll make it my way which will include water washing, quick wash Iso washing, purging then the 'whipping' that people seem to think is so vitally important. It will extract a wider range of cannabinoids which will make it a different stone but it will also extract contaminants with it which will 'water it down' in comparison the THC Trichome Treacle above.

For the moment though I'll be showing my prefered method of making a better product than that in my eyes.



Edit to add: How many hits per gram? - Well I'm a bit of a heavy toker so I'll prolly make about 4-5 joints from a gram. Knock your socks off though.

That is the one thing about the budder that I don't like; it's not a full stone as it is mainly 'just' THC.

Wrong way around mate, budder should be a fuller stone whilst BHO is just THC.

I'm green with envy.
