Hiya guys, I've got a video that is absolutely kin hilarious but the only problem is the sound is not so good.
anyone know of any good software on the torrents or something that I could use?
I'll only probably use it for the one video so nowt flash, or if anyone has any software and fancies a laugh while doing it for me, if it's a simple little process for a pro, I'd really appreciate.

It's basically my mate hallucinatin after mixing diazepam and XTC.....don't worry, he was safe and sound amongst people who love him but it was just so dam funny we had to film it, He's sitting in the chair thinking he's in work typing on his lap and all sorts.

Anyhoo, if anyone can help, many thanks.

Everyone seems to be using a program called VirtualDub:

Intructions:

If the files are only for watching once or twice i use ONLY virtualdub, very easy.
1-Open file in virtualdub
2-Click on Video -> Direct Stream Copy
3-Click Audio -> Full Processing Mode
4-Click Audio -> Volume, then check "Adjust Volume of Audio Channels" and set the slider to for example 303%.
5-Click File -> Save as AVI, enter a new filename and Ok.
Thats all, and you dont even have to know theres something called demux and mux. But! the file will be big as the audio is now uncompressed, not very suitable for archiving.

Edit: If its an Mpeg you need to leave Video in Full Processing Mode (unless you got a lot of harddisk space or a short video) and set a compression (i would recommend XVid) under the menu Video -> Compression. This will take quite a bit longer time btw.

Link to download VirtualDub

You could just use audio>boost in Adobe Premiere.

The sound will distort if you make the volume too loud. yinyang.gif

There is an option in Vdub under the audio menu called 'Compression' choose one of the many MP3 compression formats listed. 128kbps would be a good option to go for.

There is actually an executable (with GUI) floating around the net called normalize.exe. Normalizing [sic] the audio make the loudest part of the audio file 100% in volume so you don't get any distortion.

Me, I'd basically do what Mr. ChrystalFarmer says but...

1. File > Save WAV...
2. Normalise the audio through normalize.exe
3. Load the WAV back into Vdub using the audio menu and set the compression options.

Thankyou very much indeed guys. Just downloaded Vdub and it works fine.
Youtube was the plan :-) I'm a bad bad man.
The files a 3gp though so I'm off to find a converting program now.

http://www.videohelp.com/ is a top resource for all your video converting needs. I wouldn't bother with any other site on the net.

for some reason the tags dont seem to work when searching using the keywords on youtube? f'd if I know.

There's not much sound apart from my mate quoting policy details and reciting insurance scripts. see if that works.

I'll sort the sound when my more technically minded companion comes around.
