Hi everyone!

Thinking of growing outdoor this summer and not sure how to go about it, i have grown indoor once but parents and my girlfriend are not too keen on the idea but with all the grit weed around i have no choice.

Question 1: is it best to start them indoor then move them outdoor if so how long should i grow them indoors for (to what hight)?

Question 2: what is the best PH for the soil?

Question 3: when moving them outside should i put them directly into the soil or should i use a large pot for each plant?

question 4: when do i know if they are female or male if i remember rightly i thought you had to wait until they flower?

Question 5: i also what to keep them organic so what UK products can i use for pest control?

Question 6 if i am not going to be at the site that often what can i do about feeding my plants agaain want to keep organic so no chemicals, is there a slow relase stuff i can get?

Question 7 what are a couple of good strains for outdoor use i like a nice fruity light green crystal like weed like White Widow so any sugestions just dont like purple gear!

Question 8 if I start the seeds indoors do i need to feed them anything other than water?

Question 9 when i plant outdoor will i have to keep checking which are female as i would hate to go back after all the hard work and find them all seeded!

Question 10 I want to keep the plant to a decent hight as not to attract to much attnetion i have heard of pinching the top to stimulate outword groth could someone explain in dummy terms how i go about doing this and how often as i dont want to destroy my plants.

Final question 11: is it possibe to simply place the seeds directly outdoors in mid April or may willl this work at all or am i being silly??

Thank you all for your help and hopfully i will be posting some pics after the summer yeild!!!

thats a lot of questions. all the answers you need are in the existing threads you'll just have to have a poke around the threads for info. check my 2006 grow and my 2007 grow for example. good luck mate

Question 1: is it best to start them indoor then move them outdoor if so how long should i grow them indoors for (to what hight)?

Yes it is better, bigger plants more bud, i rekon the greater time grown inside the better, this year i grew mine inside for a month or 2 before putting them out.

Question 2: what is the best PH for the soil?
6.5-7

Question 3: when moving them outside should i put them directly into the soil or should i use a large pot for each plant?
Directly into the soil

question 4: when do i know if they are female or male if i remember rightly i thought you had to wait until they flower?
Yes thats right wait until they flower, it will be dependendent on the strain you are growing and the light cycle of the season. late july to late august.

Question 5: i also what to keep them organic so what UK products can i use for pest control?
Buzzoff is organic i believe, can be bought from the uk420 store

Question 6 if i am not going to be at the site that often what can i do about feeding my plants agaain want to keep organic so no chemicals, is there a slow relase stuff i can get?
Hmmm im not to sure what slow release organic stuff to suggest sorry, go ask in the organic section smile.gif they will probably say that you should have been preparing hte site for longer, laying down fgish blood n bone mix and turinging the soil over regularly.

Question 7 what are a couple of good strains for outdoor use i like a nice fruity light green crystal like weed like White Widow so any sugestions just dont like purple gear!
No suggestions from me, ask in the strain section with a title to get people attention is my advice.

Question 8 if I start the seeds indoors do i need to feed them anything other than water?
Probably not if you use good soil,

Question 9 when i plant outdoor will i have to keep checking which are female as i would hate to go back after all the hard work and find them all seeded!

If you are growing from seed, and not wasting your money on femenised seeds, then that is the case. This is where it pays off to have a mother plant, to provide you with as many female cuttings as you want.

Question 10 I want to keep the plant to a decent hight as not to attract to much attnetion i have heard of pinching the top to stimulate outword groth could someone explain in dummy terms how i go about doing this and how often as i dont want to destroy my plants.
Im going to leave this one to you and introduce you to the uk420 search function click me, im sorry but ive just never tried pinching, there are other methods you might search for like topping, pruning, tying them down etc etc.

This question does raise a concern tho, where are you growing? in your garden or in the middle of nowhere, its good to have a spot that no1 will ever go near, why should height be a concern?

Final question 11: is it possibe to simply place the seeds directly outdoors in mid April or may willl this work at all or am i being silly??

Yes it is but you will get horrible losses of seeds, far better to germinate the seeds inside, even if its jsut in soil on your windowsill. i planbted 300 seeds last year in the manner you are thinking of, i harvested jsut over 40 plants.

Most of your questions have already been answered better than I could, but perhaps you could take some cuttings (labelled accordingly) and once rooted try and flower them for a week inside to check sex? and then go and cull the males.

how are feminised seeds a waste? if you use reputable breeders there generally fine. i've had regulars hermie on me so whats the difference, at least with the fems theres no full males only a few seeds

meh i know there is sometimes a debate on here surrounding them funki, every time ifve looked at them they have seemed artather expensive option next to growing out one year, weeding out the males, taking cuttings and getting a mother on the go to have free established genetics for years.

If they work for you bruv then fine smile.gif

true about the expense mate. i can't keep mother plants as it means keeping live genetics in my house all year round and my missus would not be happy plus a can't be arsed with it all, i used to keep bonsai mums for my indoors some years ago and i just got sick of the hassles with them, and the cuttings gradually reducing in quality overtime as the mums aged gave me worse yields and worse quality herb. mother plants should be renewed every year tops from seed for me to keep a good vigour to them and the cuttings they provide. but each to his own my friend spliff.gif
