can anyone help me out, and tell me wot the best bulbs i should get? and will i need 2 one to start them off and one for flowering?, am getting a bit mixed up on the times the plants should go on aswel, so if anyone could help, cheers

The ideal lighting is the tropical sun.

Second to that would be Metal Halide for vegging and 60/40 HPS/MH for flowering ...

... luckily it doesn't appear to matter very much what you use so long as there's lots of it.

How big is yer space ?

wot do you mean by 60/40 mate, and not sure wot space to use yet as i have a big room i could use or and little cuboard i could use, just want to get the lights right,

for example with the right space a 600watt hps alongside a 400watt mh aswell, would be an ideal setup

would that batter my electricity, i dont want my bill looking out of place

Ste mate....the type and size (wattage) or your lights depends on the size of your growspace...be it a cupboard or a warehouse! (the former being most ppl's choice!!).
somewhere on here, and in most grow books theres info on the grow space : light ratios whichll help you out wonders....
ill be using a 400watt hps for the main growing phase (cant afford a specific flowering AND growing set of lights!) and a couple of cheapy fluro's to start things off when its all little....

read a couple of books and youll be sorted mate....books plus this place is ALL the info youll ever need...or want!

dont let people confuse you too much mate it doesnt have to be rocket science(although some think it is !) ,get a HPS light ,around 600watt per 1m square +,you really dont need to bother about swapping lights etc unless you really know what your after as far as psychoactivity in the buzz ,a hps will do fine,you need a fluro to start them off though and for your veg room

What are your smoking needs ?

A 250 watt HPS in a cupboard will easily give you 4 ounces every 12 to 14 weeks from seed.

Electricity costs approx 40 quid a grow depending on tarrif.

£10 an ounce for much better than you can buy.

i would recommend a 400w light with a grolux bulb if your just gonna do the 4 or 5 plants dude

forget fluros to flower with mate ,i have never seen more that half an ounce a plant,ever!

it depends on price what do you want to spend on seeds? how quick do you want them to finish etc?
white rhino from nirvana is a good beginner strain its stong hardy and finishes in around 8 weeks of flowering,some of the more exotic and well known strains can take 14 weeks plus to flower!

yes i would want it quick, so about 8 weks flowering would be good, and would that mean it would be vegging for about 4 to 5 weeks?,i dont really understand this 18/6 and then 12/12 stuff, how do you know wen its time? i know that may sound silly but an new .

ok mate you need to crack your seeds then put them under fluro light set on 18 hours on 6 hours off once the roots show though the bottom pot them on to a bigger pot (do this again to a bigger pot when roots show again(around 7.5ltrs for the biggest),then once they are around a foot tall you can take some cuttings which you can put in cubes in a propagator back under the 18/6 light(so you can grow this strain again soon as you chop) and put your foot high plants under the 400watt(or 600watt) on a 12 hour light 12 hour dark regime,they will then begin to flower (as long as the space where you are growing in completely dark when needed and light proof when needed) ,i find a grow tent(budbox) is perfect ,you will need a fan and filter(around £85.00 for the set on ebay) and a fan moving the air round(clip on are best) and hey presto 8 weeks later you should have some top bud,only use good feeds(bio bizz range is fine) and good soil(all mix or terra pro+) go to the local grow shop and ask some questions but remeber its your money so make your own mind up dont belive the hype if unsure ask on here someone will always help you out! were like that

have a look at some grow diaries mate see how long other members veg for
vegging is up to you its all on how big you want your plants...the longer you veg bigger the plant...just remember when you go in to flowering the plant will boost in growth big time

the pics look good mate and the plant looks to be doing fine, wen they was on , 125w enviro and 400w metal halide, was that on 18/6

for seedlings. alot of people use a few (3- 5)of the 20w CFL's '"energy saving lamps" you can buy in most shops for 3 quid.

£1 in your local Aldi /ASDA.

You will need sockets and wire for them though ...
