Full Version: Dutch Passions Powerplant

Bought 9 Dutch Passions Power Plant from UK420 store.

Grew them for 5 weeks from seed. 9 germed, 6 males, 2 herms, and (hopefully) 1 female.

Also, someone else on this board strarted some PowerPlant at same time. He had all herms and males so scrapped them and strated from cuttings. This cant just be conincidence.

Is there anything you can do about this ? or do you just have to suck it up.

THanks,
stuied
Hi Thagomizer. I've grown DP Power Plant for a couple of years & have used around 100 seeds in that time.
I can remember 1 packet being about 80% males but the rest have turned out approx 70% female so luck of the draw I guess.

I find that Power Plant is a good daytime smoke as I can do a few during the day & not get too lazy.

Hope your next packet is more female.

Are you aware of the view that sex is not "cast in stone" in the seed, and can be influenced by germ/early life conditions?
For instance:
  1. "Blue" light
  2. Low temperature
  3. High humidity
encourage female plants, while the opposite (hot, dry, "red" light) encourage males. Hermies can also be produced through stress or light leaks.

Of course, it could also have been the luck of the draw, 8 males out of ten is rare, but not outlandishly so. 8 fems out of 10 is actually fairly common!

My environment was pretty much spot on. I had a mini-fogger running constantly to up the humidity. Vegged under a 400w MH. Temps spot on.

Just luck of draw I guess.

I had shit luck with male plants from Dutch Passion regular seeds all last year, passion #1 - 1 female, mazar - 1 female, blueberry - loads of mutants and hermies and allsorts, and no it's not just my environment because I always grow multiple strains and seeds from other seedbanks haven't been so problematic .

Still all you need is one keeper from a packet of beans and you can clone it to death and DP do have some really nice strains , it's just a pain in the arse when you have limited space males are most definately unwelcome .

I ended up getting some feminised mazar and they were very well behaved to my surprise, maybe it's a ploy by DP to push their more expensive feminised lines ... lol.gif

yeh me and Thagomizer started at the same time and we both had the same problems.

Id heard that Dutch Passion were quality seeds but ay convinced now and don't think i'll be usin em in the future

Just because they can be a problem doesn't mean they don't have some blinding strains, I'm smoking some of their blueberry as I (try to) type, and honestly it's the best smoke I've had in ages and I don't make a habit of smoking stuff I consider to be shite.

true it was a pain in the arse getting this one plant but it was certainly worth every bit of it, like I said all you need is a single keeper .

I'll continue to use them .... mainly because I've already bought a whole load of their seeds and I'm not going to waste them lol.gif .

well i'm just finishin growin dp pp femmed, also not so impressed - had 4 hermies outta the ten! again, enviroment was runnin pretty much perfect, no light leeks etc (although they did get so tall was a wee bit too close to HPS's!??!). But i'll defiantley be tryin sum other seedbanks now instead!! (...& for my 2p's worth on the old 'femmed/regular' debate, will now be switchin to the 'regular' side o tings 2...as only ended up with male flowers in me growroom anyway!!)
fancy sum SSH next, but also hearin bad things about greenhouse now!?! Although i kinda expect it to be more a case of individual strain stability, rather than that of the compaies entire range...?!?!

Funny coincidence, I have bought two packs of white widdow feminised form DP in the past and had over 80% success rate from both packs however I invested in a half pack of DP femmed Master Kush and a half pack of DP femmed White Widdow so far the Kush' refuse to give me more than a tap once in soil or rockwool they won't budge, I have two white widdow sprouts so all is not lost 2 plants out of 8. I read earlier on in the week that Master Kush flower a lot later than 9 weeks so maybe they sprout a lot later two. Maybe they are special plants and just require more nurturing. Keep us posted

just over 5 weeks flower now the worst plants i have ever grown 34.gif pure pooh.gif hemp seed would be better doh.gif how DP can sell these seeds i do not no sad.gif

Not apples, but some kinda sharp citrussy taste, kinda lemon/limey (sorry, i'm crap at describing smells/tastes), just not me cup of tea really, that said my mate loves the taste of it. Also the taste was mellowing by the time the third round of clones had been flowered, found the taste less pungent with these, in fact i wish i'd kept one of them as i quite like the high, oh well, still got 'alf a bag of beans stashed somewhere....wink1.gif
