Went up a local farm auction which is on tomorrow to veiw what they have and there is a huge refector up there, Its marked as a carpark light, Its has a white domed top and the underside it has real shinny reflectors made out of polished steel, there is a clear plastic cover and it also has what looks like a ballast and 2 son-t bulbs. It looks like the bulb sits virtical on the ballast and the reflector then sits on top. The size of this thing is about 3ft in dia. Has anyone else used one of these ?. I expect it will sell for around £5 its only old farmers who go there
The Budmyster
should be fine, give it a good electical check thou.

I will buy it anyway, take a pick and let you guys tell me what you think. Its got to be worth paying £10. If it is not any good I can always rig it up to make it look like a space ship, take some video with a out of focus camera and put it on U tube. as UFO footage.

How far apart were the bulbs? if they're side by side it's unlikely to be HPS (Or low wattage HPS) and if they are next to each other it would be less than ideal for your babies.

Still for a tenner I'd buy it anyway, you could easily triple that on ebay if they're unsuitable.

If they look like HPS I think they probably were as there' not many bulbs that look like HPS.

I didnt take much notice of the bulbs but i wasant very clear, It only holds one buld. so the there must be a spare., the thing looks brand new, someone nicked it i expect and stuct it up there, loads of nicked gear ends up in the sales. I will post a pic tomorrow night,

well here it is, cost me £15 . I will be taking the domed plastic clear cover off to keep temps down. The red bottle next to it is to show the size, the bottle is a 5lt container. what do you guys reckon. will it be any good as a reflector.

Hell's bells! Only one way to find out. Hook 'er up and give it a test run! See what kind of a light pattern it throws at several levels between 1-3ft. I've never seen anything quite like that before - what does it look like from the side? How does the ballast hook up, is it remote or all built together?
