Has anyone used them Root Riot cubes for growing seeds/cuttings in, i was going to give them a try and wondered if they was any good ? I normaly use them peat pots with a 50/50 mix of allmix and light mix,i like these because as soon as roots are visable at sides and bottom (roots penatrate through them) you just plant them into large pots ,so you don't damage roots(less stress). You can allso get them in various sizes to fit your propagator best...... So if any ones used root riot cubes,do you recomend them ,or have i to stick to what i know- and is working for me..... 34.gif

Any input welcome.....

I love Root Riot cubes - they're the only medium I've ever successfully rooted and grown clones in!!!

You just have to watch em for drying out, apart from that I can't think of anything wrong with em thumbsup.gif

Love em too. Just done 24 clones in them and they are all looking healthy. They also contain micro nutrients that get them off to a good start. A tad pricey in the trays of 24 compared to rockwool cubes, but my local growshop sells them in big bags too cheaper if you needed a lot more.

Thumbs up for root riot cubes. yahoo.gif

hi,
this is my first ever grow, and i started my oasis seeds in root riot, with 100% sucess rate....
i have also just taken 5 clones and put them in there....will wait to see if they do the trick for them...
but ive herd and read many threads on here about root riot, and i would say 98% of people are more than happy with thier results.
for best results with clones, clonex gel works excellent with them, they even have a leaflet inside the gel promoting how good they work with rr. so good luck....i would say give them a go....

I bought some root riot from my local grow shop on saturday, a little late for my seeds (it's only a small shop but i have got to know them well and they stock everything i need or ask them to order ,and they have just got the root riot in stock thumbsup.gif ) but will give them a go with cuttings when my mother is ready ,after reading all the positive comments they should be worth the extra few £'s ......... smoke.gif

good health to all.......... flex.gif

I have just recently used some root riot cubes, my first time using them and my first go at taking clones and all of them took perfectly. I even tried them out on some Mandala #1 seeds for the hell of it and all 3 popped up fine and are doing really well.

They have the perfect moisture/air feel to them. The only gripe I have with them is that I had to bore the pre-formed hole out a bit to make it a tad bigger but otherwise I cant recomend them enough. Also at £7 for 50 from the 420 shop they are a bargain.

I used the cubes along side some formulex, both pre-soaking the cubes for the cuttings and also as a foliar spray.

Buy some!

Friend of mine switched to using Root Riot cubes after getting a 50% success rate with clones from using just compost. He now enjoys a 100% success rate thanks to Root Riot cubes. They keep for quite a while if you leave them in a plastic bag to sweat. If they dry out just give them a little soak. Its already been said by someone about the hole in the middle of the cube not being very big but my friend gets around this by poking a cocktail stick in there to open it up a little. I have seen his clones and they always stay a nice healthy lush green colour for the whole of the 8 days it takes them to sprout roots. He mists them daily and very rarely loses any, although once he knocked a couple over and they both died. He solved the problem by leaving them in the plastic trays that they come in. If he takes eight cuttings then he just cuts a section of eight cubes from the tray.

alright dude , i usually use rockwool cubes when cloning but recently tried root riot cubes . i noticed that the roots in the rockwool cubes used to mainly come out from the bottom and a few from the bottom of the sides and with the root riot cubes there were alot more roots from the bottom and alot more all up the sides of the cubes . it is def noticeable that they root better in the rr cubes . definitely will start to use them again when my current stock of rockwool cubes runs out .

Hi there, first time grower so complete novice but i planted 10 seeds into peat free riot cubes & 8 popped up within a couple of days, another couple of days & you can see root coming through the bottom, i wont use anything else now as im more than happy with them, one thing tho is keep an eye on them as they dry out quickly, just make sure they're moist & its fine & dandy !! Big thumbs up from me yahoo.gif
