hi peeps im about to undergo my first grow, i am new to all this so please bare with me,
in my grow room i have a small fan to circulate air and a proper size ehaust fan with carbon filter for my exhaust, my question is do i have my exhaust and intake fan running constantly or say 15 mins per hr or just try to balance them to get my room temps right?? also do i have them running the same on light and dark cycle??
ps its probably on the site somewhere but iv read and learnd so much from here iv probs overlooked it . many thanks

Pretty much run them 24/7. Dark and light.

Always extract for sure, 'cause you'll want to keep the air flowing throughout the cycle. The plants aren't dormant at lights out. Also, the pressure inside should be negative. If you have a material tent, you'll notice it gets 'sucked in' when you close it - this keeps all the smells inside and going through the filter - which is good.

I keep my inline on almost constantly. The only time i don't is occasionally when i'm feeding them C02 i'll turn it off for an hour so that the gas isn't getting sucked straight thru. To be honest i'd say that my inline only makes up a small amount of my growing electricty costs.

right i understand ( thanks for the help) also im i bit confused on the distance to hang my light from the plants, as iv read allsorts of different things?? i have a 400w hps and my room is 1.5m x 1.5m by 2m high. would 3ft above be ok throughout the grow or does/could this change at veg/flower stage etc?? again any help is much apreciated thanks guys.

400 hps @ 18inches above mate should be fine,just stick the back of your hand under and ifs not to hot for you your plants will be fine,remember tho when you switch to flower some strains double even triple in height so youll be raising your light as they grow.
