Aye up guys

Just about to kick off the new grow. 1msq nft table, so got the aqua nutes out, calibrated my ph pen etc etc.Now iv run an 80ltr bin full of water and left it bubbling over night, next morning iv checked ph of water and it reads 7.0, ok there then, So in goes 100ml of A & B, checks e.c and it comes out 1.0, nice, just what the young uns will want. Left that lot bubbling overnight and gone to check e.c and ph this morning e.c reads 1.0 wink1.gif but ph has plummetted to 4.0 34.gif

I know Canna Aqua has a ph buffer, but iv never seen the ph drop by 3 full points before. Can anyone tell me if this is normal behaviour for these nutes, iv only used these nutes once before and cant remember having this problem. If it is normal behaviour then I spose im ok to just use ph up to get the desired ph, although i know for a fact i never used any 1st time, I always found myself lowering it slightly, that said i hardly used vega nutes 1st time. Flowered the clones off at about 4" so they had a week of vega then onto flores.

Just had a thought, I believe these nutes come in hard and soft water formulas. Mebbe i got a hard water vega set of nutes.

Anyway thought id throw it out there and see what you guys come up with as an explaination.

I dont think it will make loads of difference but always turn the air off for half hour before taking ph readings as oxygen can make your ph read lower wink1.gif

Plus summat else i found out just lately is that all the ph meters are calibrated with a solution temp of 22 degrees...Temps can also make a difference wink1.gif

Other than that mate you need softer water nutrients cos the buffers in the canna are too strong for your water wink1.gif

I knew I could rely on you to pop yer learned head in Owd wink1.gif Im gonna knock some of the flores up and check those as im sure i had to lower the ph when using that stuff, which would tie into my theory i have 2 different formulas. If that is right, im most annoyed, it doesnt say on the tubs which it is. How the hell could the order be fulfilled properly if the labels dont say which is which.

edit: I always turn me air off m8, but the ph solution of 22 degrees is a new one wink1.gif

afaik the canna aqua comes in one formula for all waters, which most probably is the tap water in netherlands and not uk.
the canna substra range is available in hard and soft water variations, which i thinks loads better wink.gif
have a go at mixing your nutes with water direct from the tap and then leave it bubbling for 12 hours to reach room temp. im convinced that the built in buffer works better that way round.

as bartman says aqua only comes in a 'one size fits all' formula ....pretty annoying for those of us wanting to run a supposedly nft specific nute with really hard or really soft water.

my guess is that you have nice soft water so really this is a blessing in disguise ...go and shop around for a sw nute and forget the aqua wink1.gif

Having done a little digging into this, it seems im not the only person who's suffered. What im struggling with is why the Vega drops the ph far more than the Flores. Flores set at the same ec drops my ph to 6.4. Seems something amiss with the buffer between the 2. I wonder if an email to canna would get me some answers.
