Can everything including my fans be calculated in an overall electricity cost??

I have to pay someone for my juice so it'd be nice to know how much im going to owe in advance.

Cheers.

Ok, im gonna have a go at working out a price for my electrics.
Lets say,

2 x 400watts sodium (avg. 50 per 3 mnths)
2 x RVK125 A1 240m3/hour. I think these are about 35watt, but please correct me if im wrong.

If 1000wph (1 unit) costs around 6.8p
thats 0.0068 per watt? Am i on the right lines???

0.0068 * 35 (35watt fan) = 0.238
0.238 * 24 hours = 5.712p per day??

5.712 * 30 days = 171.36p per month
171.36 * 3 = 514.08p per three mnths, per one fan
2x for 2 fans = 1028.16

I make that about 110 quid every three months??

Any advance??? huh.gif

Now i come to get paranoid, ph34r.gif
Is it safe pulling those sorts of power off the grid? Will my leccy board be contacting the police to tell them of the power eating monster living in my house?? unsure.gif I guess what im trying to say, is the amount ive calculated above cause enough for suspicion by my electricity board??

Thanks in advance for any advice,

I don't think it is a problem (the electricity board suddenly seeing a flashing light next to your name on the screen) unless,

- You have a history of very low electricity usage and and then suddenly it rockets without apparent reason:P Late Autumn for example when people start putting electric fires (~2KW) and blowers (~3KW)

- Your usage is exceptional for the property that you live in. I.e 4Kw of lighting and 200W of extraction, in a small terraced house biggrin.gif

I checked out my bill the other day, and it had things on it like "High meter reading - 1st 200 units used cost xxxxx, next 45 units cost XXXXX. Low Meter, 1st xxxx units cost, 2nd xxxxx, 3rd xxxxx, remaining units cost....."
So I gave up trying to calculate it as I could afford it once, so reckon I could afford it again!

Hi there Jamin
At that usage I wouldn't worry - suppose you just had a baby - shock horror !! - and you just bought a Tumble Dryer and Washing Machine and you had to heat another room - nursery for instance.
Or you bought a Welder and started fixing cars or something - then you would really see your leccy bill go through the roof.
Thousands of reasons why your usage can escalate rapidly.
I wouldn't concern yourself too much.

Happy Growing

And as someone said before at the end of the day the electricity companies want to make money and lots of it, so if you are giving them more money they prob wont ask questions, just rub their hands.
