Hello All! smile.gif

I've been busy building my new grow room.....

Time after time i have been stuck with various problems, heat, humidity, space, ventilation, hard water, tacky DIY jobs, yada yada...

I'm totally sick and tired of it, so i have decided to stop messing around and do things properly!

I have built a whole new growroom, which goes floor to ceiling and has a fresh air intake, hopefully stopping high temp problems that have plagued my previous grows.

It was built from 50mm timber and 3mm hardboard. This was my first attempt at proper joining, and it went quite well! My fave part is the door, which i made from a wood frame and brackets, and then covered in hardboard. i have overlapped 3 of the sides to minimise light leakage. And i managed to hang it perfectly!

Inside will go my Digital 600w HPS, with a GT100 NFT tank used with RO water on the lucas regime (GH nutes)

This will be topped up via a stopcock system connected to a water butt, holding 1/3rd strength nutrients, allowing res changes to be as far apart as possible!

Intake is a 125mm L Ruck on thermostatic controller, Exhaust is a huge 250mm inline fan (1100m3 ph) on standard fan controller.

Also connected to this room is my Veg room, which is a 400w MH on a cool tube. This room will be used for mothers and cuttings. The intake comes from the flowering room, which i'm hoping will be ok. If problems arise(temps, stale air, too much negative pressure in flowering room), i will just run ducting round to the window and give the veg room a fresh air intake too!

At the moment i'm sealing all the joins to make the room totally sealed, then i will paint the outside and reattatch skirting board, to make it seem a lot less conspicuous. biggrin.gif

Then i will seal the floor with floor secure, sheet the walls with mylar, Hang the 600w on EZ rollers and add the NFT system. I want to fully test the room before i add plants to it, get the temps to the optimum and make sure i won't screw anything up!

Yeah it really does look the cats whiskers! Nice going fella thumbsup.gif

Thanks Guys! biggrin.gif Can't wait to get this baby up and running!

I have been painting the outside magnolia....

I have reatatched the skirting boards, but i did a pretty cack handed job (cos i'm a cack hand at DiY lol.gif ) but it looks a little better. bag.gif I might redo it again when i can be arsed and afford a better saw.

Whens the crop moving in?

Did you put up one of those bamboo net curtain thingys before putting up the hardboard? unsure.gif
SirBob
The inside for now...

Should be getting Gro-tank GT100 NFT tank, heater, ez roll light hangers, secondary water butt and mylar, which should complete the room!

I'll be starting 9 Mazar in there (3 x 3) when i get the temps sorted.

Thanks Mate!!

I should be popping beans in a couple of weeks, want to make sure the room is perrfect beforehand wink1.gif

I put up some net curtains, and locked the window into a semi open position before boarding it up. Don't want anyone to notice!!! ph34r.gif

Looks really interesting how you have done it! Is there anyway you could draw a plan outline of how it is all set up? Thinking of the same set up! (-_-)
Blabblabberbab
That looks great bob! If you're gonna do a job - do it properly wink.gif

One question though - how are you going to light proof the vent from flower chamber to veg box? don't those fans let light through? unsure.gif

Thanks everybody for your kind words smile.gif

Smart Q blab matey, that is the only issue at the moment.

The fans don't let much light through, so i'm going to attatch an insulated peice of ducting to it in an 'S' bend which will stop the remaining light.

looking great there sirbob mate

get all that up and running and you'll be someones uncle spliff.gif stoned.gif

very nice yahoo.gif

Blabblabberbab
Nice wink.gif

it'll be good for the ducting to go down to floor level so the air rises past the whole plant not just the top 2/3's above the vent smoke.gif

I would have gotten a scarface mural on the wall to slipstream the door, that would be the coolest yahoo.gif

Hello guys, hope you all are well smile.gif

As it's getting to spring and im awakening from my winter hibernation, i think i'm going to do some work on them and upgrade!

So far the growroom has been working well, and i have tweaked it and added a few items to make it better, which include:

Adding a 400w light to the flower room with the 600w digital.
Adding a 250mm Phat Filter (It's massive!)
Swapped the fan going between growrooms round, so now there are 2x 125mm intakes going into the flower room.
Added a water heater into the flowering tank.

The summary of work is going to be this:

Extending the partition wall to accommodate another gt-100
Subsequent refurbishment of room, with new sheeting, plasterboard walls and a better window intake
Swapping lights in grow room from the cheap 600w digital poot and standard 400w to 2 new 600w digitals with parabolic reflectors cool.gif

This will require new equipment:

gt-100
maxijet 1000l pump
100w water heater
20l/min airpump with airstones
2 x 600w digital ballasts
2 x parabolic reflectors

going to put some pics and other stuff on when done some research.

Peace yinyang.gif

Looking good.

'I'm sick of pissing about, let's do it right' is a pretty useful emotion sure enough. All that matters is being self sufficient in such a way that you can afford it and don't mind the hassle of tending the plants.

This will be topped up via a stopcock system connected to a water butt, holding 1/3rd strength nutrients, allowing res changes to be as far apart as possible!

Is only changing the res in between grows acceptable? Once or twice a week measure the ec and then addback enough micro and bloom to bring it back to full strength. Easy enough to write out a cheatsheet as ec is linear. (eg. ec = 94% of full strength means adding 6% of initial micro/bloom.) Do not let neat micro or bloom touch any roots when doing the addback, it can kill them.

If the stopcock is a household jobbie I'm not sure if it's ok with nuted ro, I know that pure ro is a no-no, it'll eat away at the brass. Will probably be good for at least one grow if you need to wing it but a proper ro float valve would be best.

alright man, ta for popping in, i kinda ditched the water butt idea when it came with a leak in it!! now i just refill the tank each week with fresh nutes, just works easier now tbh.

read some of your posts in other threads on parabolic reflectors, gave me a different perspective. i definitely will get some for this room though, it seems like the best option seeing as there are two grow chambers. Also the light spread is terrible with the 600w digital poot light, and i also stupidly drilled holes through the reflector to increase cooling, further ruining the effiency of it sad.gif

would like to be able to convert it but its a lot of messing around due to the rf issue with the cables bag.gif

heres a couple of recent pics of the light, tank with 30 new clones and a closeup:
