Full Version: Seeds From Thai Weed?

Just been smoking some cheap thai weed thats floating around my area. I was wondering if it was worth trying some of the seeds i got from the weed.
The weed was a browny/green color and came compressed, really dry(over dried) with red cotton bound round it.
The seeds i obtained appear perfect so i fancy trying them out. Iv heard good bud can be grown from these seeds however there is a strong risk of hermerphodites?
If any one has tried growing from these types of seed any pics or info would be appreciated!

Thanks guys
Topo
Go for it dude. Ya never know how they’ll turn out…smoked some Thai weed when I was last over in Thailand…didn’t come with the red cotton however… the seed probably just came from a pollinated female. They just throw seed in the ground and let them grow male and female together…good luck with the seed m8 spliff.gif

I would go as far as to say the red cotton is probably just the way some unscrupless dealer’s bump up the price by saying its Thai stick…

Thai weed, naturally very stretchy, not responsive to 12/12, naturally hermie. But tastes frikin amazing

Be careful. The seeds could just as well be hempseed thrown in to bulk up the weight - its not exactly unknown. And if they are true Thai, they could be horribly hermie, hugely stretchy and require up to 6 months to flower properly.

the odds are not over appealing

Havent actually grown Thai, but would love to (probably outdoors) I recons if you prune the hell out of them, and keep the light really close to the canopy all the way through to avoid stretch u could just about manage. Also their naturally hermie so as long as u aint got other strains nearby just means u'll have backup seeds.

Could it be scrog'ed?

sort of depends how well they respond to 12/12. personally id say no or with extreme difficulty

Thanks canna, what about an average sativa, could they be scrog'ed?

definately. If you have experience of how stretchy it is then I expect you could get a near optimal yield with a sativa.

Nice one! thanks again, that's definately something i'll try sometime thumbsup.gif

Thanks for the replys!
Dunno if im gonna risk it! dont fancy hermy plants again!
il keep lookin around for the time being see if anyone else has tried them cos they look like good seeds
would be a shame not to use em!
steevo
If you havn't tried growing before you could always practice with them and as soon as or if they turn hermie just get rid of them and start again with better seeds?

For what it's worth I wasted a lot of time messing about with seeds from here and there and the end results would vary to some degree but it they were always an unknown. However, it wasn't until I spent some money and bought myself some expensive seeds with good pedigree that I realised how much time, and therefore quality smoke, I had missed over that time.

If you have got enough space in your growroom to experiment go ahead and see what becomes of your 'Thia' seeds, you may be surprised. If, on the other hand, your space it tight then fill it with quality seeds because there's no point in wasting 3 or 4 months on something that may or may not be any good.

This stuff has been up and down the country, all with red cotton wrapped round it. He must be a real busy dealer whistling.gif

First post here...lo all smile.gif

Got some of that thai weed with the cotton and as i had just started a grow, germinated several seeds and planted the strongest looking shoot into a 5inch pot with John Innes No2. Put straight under 400w hps. Day 25 and plant is about 8inch across and about 4 inch in height. Used only tap water and a small dose of epsom salts. Very bushy plant, will be goin 12/12 in 29 days with my others. If of course its female tongue.gif If it doesnt flower then it will go into the greenhouse

Hashberry (Mandala) Landraces, N. India, Kashmir X ??

No thai in there wink1.gif

On to the thai seeds though, if they are thai, grow 'em and pollenate with an indica land race, afghani no1, hindu kush etc and pick out of the bairns for a mother.

short, quick flowering thai high is good.

Worth trying if the bag it came from contained nice smoke.

TR's post is right also. Good genetics is the main reason to do a grow.

You only know the quality of the weed, you scored the seed from, if it's grown and processed properly and that's unlikely with imported bricked weed. I'm doing similar now with a bagseed scored from bricked Jamaican weed. A stretchy, but manageable, Sativa with definitely some Afghan in it. The processed schwag I got, smelled like rum and was very uplifting, giggly and mellow. The clones I've got are starting to smell nice as well. They take a lot of days in 12/12 to start flowering, so 8/16 might be a good choice (if possible) in the first one or two weeks and then slightly going back to 12/12 or even 14/10 in the last two weeks. I guess mine might be ready for harvest after 12, 14 weeks (++?). You'll never know untill you try. A lot of todays strains were made from bagseed. Cindy99, the Purps, White Widow and I guess even hashberry.

I thought sativa's should be given 12/12 from seed? I can tell already it wouldn't be a good idea to start scrogging sativas without getting some detailed info first! not with what you just said about those light changes! when you say 8/16 thats 8 hours lights on isn't it?

back in a few, need more coffee to waken my brain so I can absorb more details lol.gif

After some hard thinking iv decided to have a gamble a pop a couple of these 'thai' in the drobe.
I got a feeling gonna be really stretchy and with a long flowering time so i think i will switch to 12/12 after a couple of weeks!
