Hi, I have a Wilma system with a soil dripper setup. I have today noticed a small green patch of what looks like mould on the soil near the dripper. What can I do to solve this? It also looks as though the top of my plants leaves are starting to curl - could this be because the light is too close?? It is a 250watt light and is approx. 40cm above the top of my two week old plants.

I dont want to lose my crop!! Please help!!

If it's algae, I wouldn't worry about it - it's harmless, although unsightly. If you want to prevent it, all you have to do is stop light from getting to that spot. yinyang.gif t by:

Yea Im kinda hoping it is something like that - its just a bright green circle about 10mm in diameter does this sound like algae then?

if i was you i would remove the top inch or so of soil and replace with fresh stuff then cover it with an inch or so of sharp sand, and get that light down to about 9" away from the tops to give them more light

hi mate i dont know wilma sad.gif

i use the very fine hosse with drips know as spaggetti hose, often get build up around the drips.

salt buildup is easily fixed with a flush

or just the fuzzy roots comming to surface, keep moving drippers so you dot get a knot of root under dripper.

Or mould id carefully dig it out with a spoon gently your going to have a heap of roots just below surface.

Does it look like this combo of salt built up (PK) and roots comming to surface i think the pot was alittle small and only moved drips once at flowering really needs tobe done weekly.
Troubled Mind
Looks a bit differnt from the Algie I had. But it is directly under the water pipe drip thingy so im guessing it is Algie..

My Algie looked alot lighter than that though..

Hi! Seem to have set my mind to rest - does appear to be algae although not the kind in the image attached - it is more of a bright green colour. Onward of the other problem though - I have had to today remove some leafs off my plants as they appear to be curling backward and going a slightly orangey colour. What could this be down to?

I have been growing for about two weeks now under constant 24hour light - I am choosing to grow my crop organically - atm I haven't added anything to the water tank - was going to leave it for another week until I buy some nutrients - could the lack of me changing the water in the tank be the problem??? I assumed it would be okay because it flows regularly.

Any ideas to englighten me would be greatly appreciated!

If going organically then you mix your nutes and water them in straight away..You cant store them in a tank just standing as they go off very quick sad.gif

Although there is an organic hydro nute the feeding schedule is very complicated and requires a bit off guess work too..Not recommended IMO wink1.gif

As for the algae no need to take any layers of compo off as it isnt really a problem wink1.gif

Oh and fill your profile in as this helps us too wink1.gif
