yea i dont realy understand what your tring to do with the pebbels and coco, nft is where the roots are exposed to the air and i film of nutrents is constantly being run over the taproots at the bottom, any way if your gona use those pots on the floor put some sort of insulation down like stirafoam or somthing
good luck with what ever you end up doing

Basically forget NFT,the 11ltr pots of a mix of coco and clay pebbles, are sitting on a NFT tray that acts as a drain only, when i water i water so i get a 10% run off,so the NFT tray is being used as a big saucer, then when that is full i pump the waste out of the tank into "normal" garden????????
And also it keeps the plants off of the floor, for a better air circulation and to stop the cold floor touching them!
I have used NFT with the matting rockwool blocks,Poxy black plastic gear(template)i had good results but i dont like the idea of the plants sitting in there own crap,i used to let the EC rise then add about 50% RO water to level it out during the week!
In a non recirculating system like mine, the res has to be sorted only twice, the day you mix the food etc and the next day when things have settled down a bit, then its ready!
If i was only doing one strain in there i would set up a auto drip feed system, alot easier than it sounds, using spagetti tubing a pump a timer,a flow meter and water filter and of course drippers,After setting the timer so all plants get a feed it basically is very low maintenace, just refilling res every 7/10 days and no poncing about with the EC and Ph,cos it wont change!
See what i mean yet?
Thanks

Ps the res will be similar to the bin you can see to the right of the photo, will prob use a 100ltr dustbin!
In the res the food will be pumped around, heated and have air stones and pumps!
