omg I was looking at Durban Poison just an hour ago thinking how much I'd like to grow it...

I'm interested too! Also, seems like it's stocked by quite a few seedbanks... all the same source, or are some seedbanks' DP genes better than others?

Also, what sort of height does it reach if vegged to about 1.5ft?

Hi Lawless guitar.gif

Just started Durban Poison 20 days into veg from seeds popping. The seeds came via the store here :

Genetics: Durban Poison
Variety: Pure sativa
Type: Pure-bred, True-Breeding
Harvest Date: October
Flowering Period:10 weeks
THC Content: 8-10%
Characteristics: Early harvest

Durban Poison is a very early finishing pure sativa with a good sweet aniseed taste and strong physical high similar to Thai varieties. Plants produce large buds that are well known for their resistance to disease and mould. These cannabis seeds are specially selected from crops grown in the wild in South Africa.

I've not done Durban Poison before so its a bit of a challenge but I've sucessfully grown Sativas in my limited space and kept them down to 36" under my 250 HPS in 6" sq pots (4 of them). I'm gonna follow the same methods with the Durban. I'll try and keep us updated as to progress thumbsupsmileyanim.gif Good luck with yours thumbsupsmileyanim.gif ....... btw what are/is seeds courtesy of ssuk?

After reading the HQS booklet they sent with them i noticed once again these listed in the outdoor section - Again thats twice ive had outdoor seeds from SSUK , i wont be letting them have the pleasure again thats for sure , i live in cold england ffs whistling.gif

Anyways it does also say in the book that "All our seeds can be grown indoor, outdoor & in a greenhouse" so not alls bad , wouldnt of minded the J.herer or ole 47 tho smoke.gif

I know you all all on about HQS, let me just stir you away from Dutch passion's durbam. Havin lived in s.africa and grown d real shiznit I thought it'd be a nice smoke this xmas so i got a single feminzed seed from Dutch passion hoping for something vaguely resembling a durban. how wrong I was. A friend of mine had grown it the year before and said it wasnt worth it so I didnt belive him (stupidly, or hoping to defend DP's reputation, as they are generally quite good) and my single durban female has hermie'd twice (I hope twice anyway) only to have her male genitalia yanked off. Not only did she hermie, shes the runt outta the tent. Shes even being beaten in height, flower size, crystallage and vigour and health By a fucking super haze (skunk x haze)! now, need I say more?

SSUK sent me the same seeds lawless!?, only one in 3 germed so far so cant really help, i started a similar thread a couple of weeks ago too cos i couldnt find anything on HQS's version of da durban!!

All I know is whats written on the pack, you had any luck with yours yet? smoke.gif
namkha
I got a free pack of Durban Poison x Skunk No. 1

I think it was from a big batch that Sam Skunkman found nobody was buying, and he coudn't shift

general consensus was that germination rates are low, but that there are some good plants to be found - very pretty pink pistils

I heard the smoke was pretty strong, with a noticeable body element to the high

.....

I have to admit, Durban strains have always been the least interesting to me out of all the African varieties out there - most people I know are of the opinion that the closer you can get to the equator the better

i.e. Congolese, Malawi .... and then in West Africa: Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana
