Loc
Hello there and greetings to all of you

hope this thread helps anyone who is thinking of growing this strain

Day: 2, october

I was surfing on the net searching for some beans to spent my hard earned money and i came across with cannabiogen's site.
As i was looking at the strains available there, one caught my eye: Sandstorm - obteined by a cross of a plant from chitral in the region of hindu kush, pakistan, and an hash plant from arabene, morrocco. The picture displayed on the site is simply superb, and i'm an indica fan, so i decided i had to have this plant.
Ordered the beans right away and awaited quietly for my precious magic sensu beans (if anyone's recalls dragon ball hehe).

Day:10, october

A beautiful thursday afternoon, when i check my mail box and found that my order has arrived. I ran to the post office to get my seeds with a short pit stop to score some hash from my friend.
When i got back home i open the package and found some really cool box containing the seeds, very professional.
Check out the pic and sorry about he quality
Loc
Took 10 beans out of the 12 that came inside the package and soked the seeds in a glass with water for about 45 minutes.
After that i puted the beans in wet paper towel inside a dvd box and placed the dvdbox on top of my pc monitor.

Day:11, October

I wake up and after swalling a bowl of cornflakes, i go check my beans to realized that all 10 had pop.
It's all good and i let those roots grow for 2 more days inside the dvdbox till they reach aprox. 3 or 4 cm.

Day: 13, October

All are placed in vases not to deep.

Day: 14, October

The litle bastards have sprouted already and i can see 10 fragile plants starting they long journey to my lungs.
By this time i expect to have there some sturdy-grow plants, and start doing the math when am i going to smoke this things.

Day:20, October

All the hopes i had for a fast growing plant are pretty much torn judging by the looks of these spouts. Some of them look burnt on the edge of the leafs, others a almost yellow sick green.
Loc
Day: 27, October

Plenty of fresh air, water and 18 hours of light under a 400W HPS (hanging 50 inch above the plants) and the grow is minimal. Some look even worst with strange yellowish tones and burnts becoming to form on the edges of leaves.

They have 8-10 days in this stage

8 Days later....
Loc
Let's w8 a few days to see what happens, but things are not looking pretty for me. Not a happy chappy.

and a few extra smoke for me... i took some seeds from a smoke that i bought a couple of months ago. Distinctive sativas, 2nd week in flowering, look moontruous.
Let's hope for better photos in the next days

Looking foward for ur opinion. Every comments are apreciated

Maybe they are too small for the 400 and you are frying em?

That is why they are scorched I imagine, unless you are giving nutes?

no!just a place i visit every year!cant get enought of super bock...

Hi Leprechan!
No nutrients added. Just water them plenty. I don't think i'm frying them as the lamp is placed more then 50 inch above. I didn't have any problems with the other 2 monster sativas that you see above (as all the previous grows that i had) and the lamp was placed much closer then these are. I will try place the lamp even further away from the seedlings but i am starting to think that is a genetic issue... or these beans i got have something wrong with them...
thanks for the advice
keep it coming

P.S. Tryed las t night some cannavodka that a friend of mine produced... What a horrible taste! But will do the job! hehehe

*quick update*
Wooooooow
Pakistan's hash is the best!
A friend of mine from macau brought me some and i'm telling you man this is the shit!
Been trying to get up from the sofa in the last 2 hours! What a knockout stone! Nothing like the stuff they sell on dutsch coffeshopps! I guess now i know where i'm going to spend my next hollidays...hehe I haven't smoked shit like this since the 80's.
Glad to know that not all the good stuff has been whipped out of the face of the earth.
I'm sure most of you are aware of the situation that the biggest hash and weed producers in the world are facing... the will to maximize crop production has neglected the quality of that product. fields have been abandoned in the high isolated mountains around the globe that produced strains of a kind and i'm too fucked up right now and starting to dream lol.gif! i guess i'm going to drink a beer now rofl. cya ya'll later ..must go... can't continue... lost my train of thought

I planted 6 of these a while back of which 2 are definitely female (and one probably is). They do start off slowly but for a pure indica I'm not all that surprised as pure sativas do much the same. Your AK48s are hybrids so I'd expect more 'get up and go' from them. You'll see in the Cannabiogen booklet which came with your seeds that they recommend a minimum of 20-25 days veg for hybrid strains and 30 days+ veg for pure strains (100% indica or sativa).

I gave mine their first weak feed on Thursday which would be around day 28. They're under 12/12 now. A bit early I know but I have hopes of a smoke for Christmas as the last grow was 'assimilated' by the borg.

Thanks for ur comments. I'm sorry to ear about the low female/male ratio. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Did they all showed sex yet? Well let's hope these are slow starters and fast ?finishers? (sorry about the english, my mother language is portuguese). Now that you are in flowering stage you should try out a product from cannabiogen called "Delta nueve" (Delta nine in english- i think i'm going to try it too). I heard it's the viagra for cannabis. Accelerates flowering, improves yeild and suposely the thc level by 25% up to 30%. By it's composition it seemed to my that is a lot better then biobizz products (and very afordable comparing to this famous line of produtcs).
If someone has something to say about this please hollar back.
Stay tuned for the next episodes...

Hi sirs,

I think Loc has said some nice inputs to the early behavior of Sandstorm. They grow slow at the beginning, need not to push them too hard as still keep some type of wild nutes needs. Once first month is done, nutes and watering will increase to regular needs. Columnar structures, are hard to branch.

Hope you get some nice individuals. Many of them show some purple colours from their Pakistan Chitral heritage. Must say Sandstorm won second prize at first spanish cup smile.gif Delicate plant, hashy warm flavours and effects.

About Delta NUeve... is our top product not released in UK at the moment. Top seller in our country is designed with maximum quality compounds having soooo efective results. Its being tested for customer here for years... sales increase every year due its best reputation in its area... makes me laugh always the "Viagra" comparison... not mine but customers name lol.gif

Hope in near puture to be able to send some samples for ppl to try it if they like.

thanks for your input and best luck with Sandstorm

Followed Leprechan's advice and placed the lamp even further away from the sprouts. They seemed to respond well with the exception of one that is still looking sick. One of the sprouts is really showing no sign of growing but i'll give it some time as the biggest ones are becoming to pick up the pace and accelerating the growth (i think). Even if i loose the 2 worst looking sprouts i will still have a lot to have fun with. And from what i have seen CBG beans have a high female:male ratio so...nothing to worry about, except my useless impatience.

Thanks for imput Kaiki
I'm getting more and more convinced of trying the "Delta nueve". És solamente para lá floraccion o se puede usar en la vegetacion tanbién? Una botella és suficiente para una coheja de 10 plantas?

Your English is about 1000% better than my Portuguese so you have nothing to apologise for wink.gif

3 female from 6 seeds is fine by me smile.gif As I said before I don't expect pure strains to grow that fast in early veg. I'm rushing these plants along a bit to get a little smoke for Christmas but I still have 6 seeds left to do it better next year. I'll post some pictures of that grow when it happens but I'm not posting any pictures of this grow as it really wouldn't do your genetics justice smile.gif

3 females out of 6 is very good indeed!I'll settle with that! hope all goes well for you bro and i'll await quietly for ur bud shots and smoke report.

Nice looking buds there Lawless, they look very acceptable for hash production. Very diferent of the picture displayed on CBG's site, though. Did u have any pheno similar to that purple one? And how's the smoke?

It's funny how they came ready with a magically-appearing set of shears and bags ready to put the buds in. As a very apposite comment on the site says, they don't know much about harvesting MJ, and who'd be daft enough to pick it that early anyway? wink1.gif
Loc
Ya hehehe! You got a strong point there m8!
I'm so fucked up right now that i didn't even connect those dots. But still, a nice crop.

I think they might well have found it beforehand and come back with a video camera. No way was that their pot.Shame eh,those wankers ruining that pot that someone like us went to the trouble to grow. yinyang.gif

Day: 30, October (16 days vegging)

They are all alive, each one with growing at their particulary speed rate. The one that had burned leaves is still there and seems to have grown some tiny litle leaves so i hope she'll make it. The 3 on the middle though are a picture of health. Just check it out for yourself

Post scriptum: By the looks 45-50 days of veg are going to be needed

Hi Loc,

Delta nueve is basically for 2 stages, early young plants and for flowering, which is like is better known here. Is not for "vegging" stage.

A bottle contains half a litre and is quite more than enough for 10 indoor plants. It requires only 4 applications, first ones as foliar sprayed 15 days before flowering, last 2 doses mixed into your water directly to the soil. 1 application per week aprox.

Hope you succeed with your grows smile.gif

Thanks Kaiki
i already send you an e-mail with my information and i will wait quietly for my "Delta Nueve".
Let's boost up these buds hehehe! If it is half of what ppl say about it... yahoo.gif

Funnily enough, the indica phenos in my Deluxe Mix were / are runts.

Who knows though - could be something interesting smile.gif
Loc
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you compost. Babies are looking fine. You still have a long way to go so maybe the runts will pack some size and weight.
Loc
Sandstorm a few days ago...
Loc
These were taken today. Also today i gave them their first nutrient feed, very mild, about 1/10 of the normal dosage. A few days ago i puted the light to close to the plants and 2 of them been burned a litle bit doh.gif but the look healthy anyway, leafs pointing up and a healthy green. The runt seems to be catching up and is bigger then the one that started burned from the beggining.

Loc
Yo Peeps

Here they are 1 month Old.
Took fotos of the best looking ones. The others are too far behind.
Got my Delta Nueve from CannaBiogen and couldn't resist spraying them with a litle bit of a mild diluded dosis. They seemed to like it. I noted a grow surge in the last few days.
Using already the Delta Nueve on the other sativas i got going. I'll post the results later.
For now i leave you with sandstorm...
Leprechan Sweet Leaf
Dunno know why they start so slow mate.

I always think of fluoros for vegging as I never have the fear that I am hurting em.

They looking fine now!

Yeah bro, I dunno either. But it's probably the genetics once their pure lanrace indica crosses. There's goes the 1 month vegging period that CBG's anounced. stoned.gif But whatever...now they seem to be catching up.
Hopefully i'll be flowering one month from now....or so it seems. In the end i only care about harvesting some quality buds. I've got so great expectations for sandstorm, i can't take the long waiting whistling.gif

Thanks for replying Leprechan
Leprechan Sweet Leaf
waiting is bad but your patience will be rewarded.

Loc
6/7 weeks of vegging and it seems i have 4 runts in my hands cry.gif
dunno if they are worth the trouble or should i bin it and start a new grow... what u reckon Kaiki?
the other six that were really worth keeping, i puted into flower a few days ago... and i have more bad news cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif
4 are confirmed males, one i'm not sure but it looks like is going to be a male too and the one left i expect to be a female since it's taking more time to show sex.

Runts....
Loc
Here are the others

If i'm lucky 1 female

lol.gif just a little curious haw do you know they are runt's m8 ive heard many people say this but is it just a plant what isnt doing as well as the other's..Forgive my stupid ass.
Loc
Hi noob!
np at all. I don't know if you ever had a runt but a runt will grow very small and yeild very litle buds comparing to an average plant of a particulary strain. I wish it was a matter of taking more time but i don't think so...i never heard of a plant that grows less then 1 foot tall with 7 weeks of vegging...

Mine are looking very much like yours. Same glacially slow growth. I'm going to decide today whether to bin the lot as this is a complete waste of time sad.gif
Loc
I think i'm gonna start a new grow too... still waiting for KAIKI's imput on this matter first.
Meanwhile, any sugestions for a good kickass weed? I'm looking for a SAtiva-Indica cross, preferably available in feminized/female seeds but not imperative. Has to be really really fast vegging/flowering cause i wasted a lot of time already.

Well I binned the last of that batch this morning. Complete waste of time and space.

I'll germ the rest in a couple of weeks and if they behave the same, well there's plenty of other breeders out there.

Orient Express (ACE Seeds) looks like a very nice hybrid. The Embalmer did a grow diary on it and chopped around 56 days I think. Ace recommend 9-10 weeks but it looks like anywhere from 8-11 weeks.
Loc
Yo m8!
I woke up today to find another male so i binned them all except for the female i have. For now i'm keeping it to see how it develops (until i purchase some new seeds at least) but probably i'll be giving it away to a m8 that has more space then i do. That way i'll be smoking some sandstorm after all, see what all the fuss is about (sandstorm won a prize at spanish cannabis cup).
As for cloning, side shoots are too small to take cuts and i'm gonna be away for 2 weeks so i'll try when i get back. Don't worry i have someone to take care of me plants while i'm away...

kaiki
Hi again,

Sorry to hear not so good news about them on sex selctions. Well first let me tell you any lot can be changed for other or replaced if not satisfized or if too many males and not the chance to try them well. So dont hesitate pls as I see for the pictures your results.

I always like to advice for a long 7-8 weeks period of vegging state if Sandstorm comes from seed. They do very slow at first 4 weeks as they like to drink and to eat slowly but intensily. Best is to allow medium to go moist/dry and increase pot size and nuttings from 5th week. There were not problems for years with them in any other sense but its just important to keep that behavior in mind. They do columnar structures being hard to find branches sometimes to facilitate to get clones from.

Its way of running has lots of influence from their wild enviorement nutes dosifications they usually do.

Best
Kaiki
Loc
Hi Kaiki!
The female i kept is doing great...she pulled out quite a grow rush in the last 3 or 4 days. I reckon she gained around 10 cm. Leafs look very healthy and pointing up so high she looks like having a hard on!!! guitar.gif ((exception made for a few older leafs that were previously a litle burned from too much nutes, although i gave her very litle - Sandstorm doesn't need any nutes for the first 5 weeks imo and i did the mistake of trying out on 2 plants wich got a litle burned but not much(feeded at week 4), and by pure unluck i burned the only fem i had cry.gif - she looks like she can take it though, grow was not affected, they are not that fragile))
As for side shoots u are right Kaiki, this one has few side branches, looks very columanr to me too, but more then enough to take cuttings as this is going to be my backup plan - keeping this one as a veg mom and start pulling clones out. No pics today as litghs are out but i promise i'll put some tomorrow or so.
She almost doubled her size when i puted her into flowering one week ago (given or taken) - Should i expect much more vertical grow?

PS: Thanks for the concern Kaiki. Now that is costumer service! About the change of the lot i will glady accept it if there's no trouble for you and if you have something faster for veg in your selections. Pm me for details when possible.
Loc
Looking good and green. She realy gained height when she went into flower...
Loc
Without a doubt the most beautiful plant i have ever grown! What a fine genetics!
Note the progress they made in just ten days! Slow starters yez, but when they kick off....pictures speak for themselves.
Nice one Cannabiogen!
