I'm sure someone will turn up with a link to the search engine in a second but I thought this was worth a shot...

Has anyone tried drying the bud by just leaving the plant unwatered? Just let it transpire itself to death and then stick it in the dark?

It's not something I have enough plants to try but i've seen plants dry themselves to a right crisp like that, but I've no idea if it would wreck the quality of the final product.

Anyhow any actual experiences?

Don`t think it would wreck the quality of smoke, as it would take ages to die/dry. (if it dried ok without going mouldy, which would be the biggest factor against trying) wink1.gif

But i've never seen dried out plants that go mouldy. they seem to transpire the water so fast it's all gone before it has time to rot

what volume of water does a plant transpire in a day? mine get through plenty over a litre each a day, which leaves me wondering how much is contained in the plant, and there by how quickly it'd dry itself out

A few growers over summer had plants that dried out on them in the heat - but not heard how good the resultant smoke was... but I guess chances are they weren't in their last few days

Yes plants will die & dry without water, but they`ll do it alot quicker if you bring the scissors to them. giljotiini.gif

I dont know.

But I know of at least one grower who hangs the entire plant, inc.rootball upside down to dry.

He says its important but cant tell me why rofl.gif

can dry whole plant but would cut off the roots, and store in cardboard box checking all the time for mould and squashed bud 2 months later she be ready and probally over dry..

faster way is to cut into small lengths and hang dry for a week roughly then cure.

So there's no real advantage?

Don't think so. If anything it looks like the obvious disadvantages outweigh any potential advantages it may have - they'll take longer to dry, probably be more prone to mould & budrot, take up far more space etc.. yinyang.gif

That'll be the old hippy tale about, 'It lets the resin accumulate in the buds, maan! It's all to do with gravity. Heavy, maan!'

I found my bud had seemingly reduced to a crisp within days last time... something to slow it down might help!

Not gonna risk it still lol.gif
