I have this problem all the time mate, I think its cos I'm useless, .

The cuttings I take look like they're gonna die, but they recover pretty strong

Gary if they are new cuttings you are frying them mate.Far too much light.



Edit: That's 800 watts on new cuttings. I'm surprised they are as a live as they are.Get em out from under there mate.
New cuttings have to be very very gently introduced to light.They do'nt have a root system yet so they'll literally dehydrate.

So they aren't rooted yet ?

If not, they should be in a propogator with very gentle lighting.

We need more info mate for a proper diagnosis

they were well rooted, bloke i got em from told me they'd been under hps, so didnt giv it a second thought, just throw them in at deep end, this is my 1st grow, so im working on advise only?? iv lifted the light now, think im gona loose a few thou??

ask me wat u need 2 know and il answer straight away

all the advice is good
you do need to gently introduce your plants to increased light levels slowly
this as well as transplant shock will be too much for them

ok if it was me id ( cant do nothing about potting them up now)
Reduce the light plants of that size grow great under a 125w enviro thats what i veg with , also dont go feeding for a few weeks or you will stump their growth looks like the meduims a little hot for them , so just feed with water only untill they tell you there hungry as they get bigger they'll deal with whatever light you throw at em

edit: if you have no envirolite , then at least turn off either the hps or mh ... mh is better suited to vegging plants but runs hotter as far as im aware

im moving them now 2 dif bit of room il take the lights up 2 about 5ft above, should i still leave both lamps on or switch down 2 1??

Agreed 100%. You need a 2x55w compact fluro or maybe a 250w hps when they're as young as they look. 800w, good god.
