Hi,

My dad started getting tingles in his left arm in about August. They have progressively been getting worse to the point that the ends of his fingers now go numb. He hasnt spoken to me about this so I cant ask him any questions, this is just what my mam told me who is very worried. I said i would try to see what it may be and the only thing I can really link it to is MS. Is it a possibility? He's going to the doctors on Tuesday.

I can't help you man, but I really hope it's OK, and something minor.

I'd be insisting he get to the doctor on an emergency appointment...

Cheers Dikki. I totally agree, however he's a stubborn bugger and like I say Im not supposed to know so I cant pressure him. Hopefully he'll do as you suggest off his own back!

my dads got exactly the same as yours at the mo and his doctor /physio has told him its a trapped nerve in his upper arm, he left it too long (years)and now its too late to undo, limits his movement/abilities but not much

It could be trapped nerve or circulation. Left arm? I'd be getting to the doc sharpish loike! Could be heart related? Don't they always say you should go 'Straight To Hospital, Don't Collect £200' with tingly left arms?

Yeah Keye that was my first reaction. I thought heart straight away. but then I was told it has been getting worse since August which makes me think that its something else.

Ive spoken to my mam again today and he's been complaining of a Tightness in his arm too. Not sure what that means though?

Don't let your mind go into over-drive Funky - I had similar symptoms,including the tightness and was told it was a Vitamin B complex deficiency.A course of strong B complex tablets,and it cleared up

he could have nerve impingment at the cervical spine (neck)

it could also be from brachial impingment at rotary cuff (shoulder)

does he have arthritis ?

Hi maryjane, No he doesnt have arthritis, that I know of. He tells me nowt! I rang him before asking if he was ok, hinting for him to telll me but he didnt.

Twenty Three - Your probably right, im probably just being pessimistic but the way 2006 has gone it would be a fitting end.
