I grow guerilla style ph34r.gif and was well pissed off when 5 out of 7 came up male this year. 70% of my time and effort wasted. So for next year I'm planning to go Feminized (scratching around in the dead of night enduring brambles, nettles, and the 4.20 to Paddington whilst wearing womens clothes could be fun doh.gif ) But seriously....how have other outdoor-types got on with feminized seeds? It must surely be a great advantage to guerilla growers to know that when they come to harvest there will be a lady waiting for 'em. No need to determine sex cuts out one visit at least, and no poncing about with a torch and a magnifying glass has to be a bonus. Sure they cost more but if 50% of regular seeds are boys then the feminized deserve to be at least double in price. I guess all I really want is a girl who is high in THC %, high yield, early finishing, pest resistant, 1.5 - 2.0 metres tall, who can be left to get on with things by herself with just the occasional visit for some food and water. She doesn't have to be blonde! So what's the word? Where should I be investing my cash for stash? whistling.gif

I would stick to normal seeds if i were you, have not tried the feminized ones myself but have heard plenty of people complain about them. The problem is that they often turn hermaphrodite (poor spelling sorry), they will show both sex and produce seed. Try and get some clones from a friend or off of next grow that way you can make sure the garden will be ladies only.

Shit, midnight rambler,my heart bleeds for ya man.Seriously, as Ive just been posting in the current fem/hermie discussion thread.

Their figures of 99.9 female just do'nt hold up.I've been with this site(god bless you Joolz) for nigh on a year and have heard what seems like a disproportionate number of complaints about feminised seed.

Hi Hermit,But the missus won't let me set up any lights, (she fears the house would soon become a farm whistling.gif ) so how would I get the clones thru the winter? I wouldn't mind a hermie or two if the resultant seeds were all girls ? smoke.gif But then visiting for sexing does allow opportunity for giving the girls a feed, or at least a nice drink of piss wink.gif
Secret gardens' info is surely valuable as he's actually grown two of the strains I'm musing on trying. Better luck next year SG .......location, location, location and don't trust a single soul unsure.gif
Thanks all.....the jury is still out. Where's this thread Dr. R ?

Hello Rambler,

Fem seeds are ideal for outdoors if you don't have the equipment/space etc to take clones early in the year to plant out. I've grown Femaleseeds Easy Sativa, Purple Power, Maroc and DP Passion #1 over the last few years. I've never had any males (although a couple of the Purples did go hermie) and the results are well worth the extra cost of the seeds. Who wants to care for a load of plants all summer only for a load of them to turn out male? I'm going to be trying DP Durban Poison next year and possibly Holland's Hope.

Hello,

I didn't realise that fem seeds could cause such a fuss!! As Fatmanbob says, everyone has his own method. I can only speak from personal experience (which is limited - I only have a couple of years growing under my belt), but the fem seeds I have grown have been very good. I think if you buy from reputable seed banks with a good reputation you shouldn't go far wrong. I'm not sure what the crappy fem seeds are and as for 'gibberlic acid', I only know about lysergic acid.

Hiya Wiki, So how did you rate those that you've grown? Which finished first? Which was strongest? Which was BEST ?We might well end up with similar grows next year as both DP and HH are high on my list - but so too are the other strains you mention. Seems like supporting genetic modifications goes against some folks religious beliefs. Posts deleted, threats of topic deletion, hitler.gif some folk need to lighten up a bit, after all we are discussing Dope growing not where to go for next years church outing. Cheers.

Hello Midnite,

They all finish around the same time (mid to late Sept in Southern England). I would say the Easy Sativa are the best. They are by far the hardiest plant I've grown and have the best smell, taste and are fairly potent. I would say the Purple Power are the worst as some went hermie (although they produced big yields). The DP Passion #1 are OK, the buds tend to be very wispy so you won't have any problems with mold, but the plants always seem to be very leggy to me and lack the vigour of the Femaleseeds varieties.

The early finish aspect is of major importance, though of course I don't want to end up with some weak-ass weed. I'm in the south too and have previously found bud rot to be a hazard on the later finishing strains. So I fancy i'll be going with the Easy Sativa, and Durban Poison. ( When I was a lad DP was spoken of as a virtual LSD equivalent, I'm kind of surprised to see its THC level is only 8.6%. Different strains maybe? )
How big did your ES get ?
I've heard differing accounts of the strength of both Hollands Hope and Passion, yet Passion gets a 18.6% THC rating.
Good Luck.....

Hello Midnite,

The ES were very uniform, they all grew to about 2 metres in height with very dense buds. My grow report on them can be found here. I did get a little trouble with mold because they buds were quite dense, but have since started using a product called Citrofresh that acts as a barrier so preventing mold from forming. Since then I've had no mold problems.

Although I'm no expert on it, I wouldn't take too much notice on the THC percentages that are given. Apparently there are other "active ingredients" in the plant, CBD and CBN being two, that can have a dramatic effect on the experience. If the Durban Poison is anything like LSD I will definitely be growing a number of these next year.

i cant reccomend dutch passion durban posion highly enough, out of 7 plants that made to flowering all females no hermies even with lots of stressing (bending. moving etc.)

Ive read horror stories on here but dutch passion's feminised varieties seem to have come out pretty well in this years guerilla grows.

Id say go for it but make sure you use a quality seed bank.

Cant ya do something nice for ya missus in return for a grow room? Getting a couple of enviros or 250/400watt is hardly a farm now. You can have two crops indoors before its even time to plant out again next year. Takes some clones and you will have your 6-7ft monsters next year.

You no it makes sence brother wink.gif

Well guys after weighing up your recommendations I've gone for Easy Sativa. Like the rest of us they've been enjoying all this lovely April sunshine and boy are they looking good yahoo.gif . I've some Neville's Haze x Sour Northern Lights, and some Super Thai x Skunk (11 seeds for a tenner!) on the go too. Good luck to all the 2007 guerillas ph34r.gif

even if femmed seeds hermie its only generally very slightly producing very few mature seeds due to the male flowers being produced late on in the cycle. some say the quality of the bud suffers but i'm dubious of that, from my experience dutch passion are quite reliable. female seed co seems popular so that must be a good thing although i have no experience myself with them. my plants hermied slightly and produced a few seeds last grow there were around 10 in a half a kilo of bud. now in my opinion thats a result. and i was all good quality
Midnite Rambler
Right on Funki, the most seeds I've had produced from a hermie was 3. Two of which germinated the next year. The quality of the smoke was such that when a dealer friend was off on holiday he came to beg to borrow half an oz of it so as to have something "real nice" on his hols.It was him that found 2 of the seeds. People worry too much about things that are of very little importance. Wouldn't it be great if they all hermied that little bit and gave 3 seeds each plant.
