My sensi skunk seeds have started to germinate 18hrs on paper towel. I've got me pots and compost ready(B+Q all purpose). I've got £100 to spend on a cheap growkit which i want to set up in my loft can any recommend a reliable place to buy one from and will it be worth it only investing £100 should i spend more? This is my first prpoer grow since joining this wicked site.

How much headroom do you have ?
toke-toke
Hmm, 100 quid...

*thinks*

You'd have to go for summat like Envirolights, you can buy all my shit off me if you like (aint got no place to use it all - 2 enviro's one blue one red, RVK fan, carbon filter, ducting, another fan (not rvk))

You wont get too far really for 100 quid but you could buy the lights i spose.

Good luck,

I can have up to 7ft of headroom. I dont mind investing a bit more cash if it necersary. But i was thinking of buying sumthin like this:

[SPAM REMOVED]

but i was thinkin these might be crap with em being so cheap! Wot do guys think?

Looks ok BUT if you got the space and can adapt to 7 foot of headroom you might as well go the whole hog so to speak and invest in a 600 HPS lamp, you will get better yields outta it.

Just my crappy opinion *for what its not worth*

Yep - 7 foot high, 3 foot square, wish I had that sort of space ....

Why not get one from the uk420 shop then you can complain online if it doesn't work ?

I'm going have a look at the uk420 shop now but from what i can remember it's going be a bit more expensive.

You need to bear in mind that the electricity for the grow will cost you £50 approx. Ultimately it's the biggest expense.

You'll also need to insulate the loft (it will get really cold up there later) ... or at least make an insulated cupboard with foil-backed plasterboard plus insulation or foil-backed insulation board. (saves painting or sticking mylar on afterwards.)

(thanks by the way - new batch of seeds going in this weekend guitar.gif )

SON-T is the basic sodium lamp. For a bit extra you can get ones with a tad more blue - which some people reckon does a better job. I've never tried myself because they don't do them in my size sad.gif

Metal Halides are the best bulbs for vegging plants.
High Pressure Sodium are the best bulbs for flowering plants.
The HPS 'enhanced blue' grolux bulbs are probably your best bet for using one light from start to finish.
Sodium wins over Halide for flowering because yields are much higher because of the amount of red light present which simulates 'Autumn' when the sun is lower in the sky and the plants flower. yinyang.gif
