i read an article by george cervantes claiming that useing a product called GABA would increase yield by 10 to 20 percent ,it is given when flowering starts to slow near completion it stimulats an extra flower boost ,croping is slytly delayed ,, gaba is a naturally ocuring amino acid classified as a neurotransmiter,,, he said to watch out for this product over the comming year that was about 4 years ago i have not seen anything since ,,, i managed to get some from a body biulding suppliment shop it is taken by athletes pryer to sleep apparantly it makes your sleep more benifishal ,,iv tryed it and i do think it works i just wonderd if any one else has tried it,,,,,,,, it does not effect ph or ec

I hadn't heard of it before until you made your post, but when you did I had a bit of a read about it. It is interesting, what are they tablets that you dissolve, I've got some 5-HTP tablets downstairs I bought but never used, I wonder if they'll do anygood. Keep us updated on your GABA findings smoke.gif

i have a tub of gaba sat in front of me ...it is mainly used in body building
on the tub it states that gaba is a naturally occuring amino acid that helps nerve impulses cross synapses and communicate with one another
gaba has been shown to have a variety of positive health benefits for the mind and body

it improves sleep
HGH production
reduces minor pain (arthritis and lower back pain)
promotes relaxation
accelerates weight loss

ive not read the article about using gaba on plants but would be interested...is there a link at all?

As tightbud says, Ive used it in B building in the past, very cheap to buy also

I have a 300g tub of GABA. You will find some great prices for it on ebay. Buying it in powder form is vastly cheaper than buying it in capsules. It is best taken before bed on an empty stomach to increase human growth hormone levels (HGH). It is important to cycle it's use because cells downregulate (become less sensitive to it) over time. As for using it on plants, I can't see how it could increase yields by 20%, it's probably just exageration. GABA is a metabolite and neurotransmitter in animals and a metabolite in plants. Jorge Cervantes has become somewhat of a joke amongst many in the cannabis community for writing utter bullshit in his High Times articles. High Times in general has become somewhat of a joke. GABA is cheap so you can give it a go but don't get your hopes up. There is a plant product called AuxiGro, containing GABA but many products on the market promise much and deliver very little.

"AuxiGro, the first GABA technology-based product, was test marketed in 1998 and has been in commercial use since 1999. Use of AuxiGro at the proper timing results in enhanced flowering, increased fruit size, greater yields (typically 10-30%), improved quality characteristics (e.g., increased sugar content) and disease suppression. AuxiGro™ is the first EPA registered commercial, naturally occurring product to consistently offer this broad array of benefits on a wide variety of crops. AuxiGro's high level of biological activity allows for low rates of application (generally 4 ounces per acre) and ease of application for the grower using standard practices. AuxiGro is stable, with on-going studies now demonstrating a shelf-life in excess of two years under normal storage conditions. The product is compatible with pesticides, fertilizers, and other agricultural materials and is commonly tank-mixed with such materials for convenience of application by the end user. AuxiGro provides a high rate of return, at least 3:1, to the user on all labeled crops. GABA (gamma aminobutyric acid) TechnologyEmerald Bio's GABA technology is based upon an understanding of the mechanisms plants use to respond to changes in their environment. Emerald Bio's scientists have discovered that GABA, a non-protein amino acid found in all living organisms, is an important signal which helps to regulate mineral availability in plants. Minerals support the biochemical pathways governing growth and reproduction as well as the pathways that direct a plant's response to a variety of biotic and abiotic stresses. Mineral needs are especially high during times of stress and at certain stages of plant growth. GABA levels in plants naturally increase at these times. In more than 1,000 field trials, foliar application of GABA, via Emerald Bio's product AuxiGro®, have been shown to enhance yields and disease resistance by increasing plant GABA and hence nutrient levels. In the laboratory, Emerald Bio scientists have also demonstrated foliar applications of AuxiGro can protect against abiotic stresses, including freezing and high temperatures and salt stress and drought."

when i use gaba on my plants i wate until the point at which you start to feed them fresh water with out nutreints about 10 days before cropping and just add about a good table spoonfull to to my 45 liter tank ,it does not effect ec or ph ,i started to use it about 3 year ago but at that exact same time i changed my style from rock wool fed with ionic by dripers to useing a coco perlite mix fed with b cuzz by hand ,,which i find far better and less effort ,infact i think it is worth mentioning that i have tried every system going and in the end iv come full circle back to the one i started with hand watering ,,,so anyway my point is i started getting fantastic results with the coco so i just put it down to that even though i was useing the gaba ,,, since i allready had the first tub of gaba of when i used to do some training when it ran out i thought i could get some more no problem but on trieing to buy a second tub was told it is not made any more ,,so that crop did not get the gaba and it and it definatly lact that freekish final growth i had been getting in preivious crops ,,,,,i managed to find a new supplyer so resumed useing and am convinced it works all you can do is try for your self its cheap and does not effect taste

Do some side by side tests with everything being identical accept one group getting GABA and one not. Compare the yields of each. Then you will really know if it works.

gaba is also the precusor to GHB

which is why some clubbers may use it

is this the same as Gibberellic Acid? never heard of gaba, will do some further searching for it
gunnaknow
GHB is gamma hydroxy butyrate or gamma hydroxybutyric acid. GABA is gamma amino butyric acid. They have similarities in affect because GHB stimulates GABA receptors but it's a bit like comparing coca leaves to cocaine. Or like comparing cocaine to crack. GHB is far stronger in affect and takes hold of your mind and body. Just like GABA, it can make you sleepy but in a much more pronounced way, making you very drowsy. That is why it is used as a date rape drug.

i did a grop a few years ago without the gaba i use a 400 light on a mover yield was 14 oz ,,,,,,useing gaba i would be confident of 18 to 20 from 6 plants
