I just started an ebb and flood and having been going off of the "Hydro Nutrients FAQ" (http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=33278) which states that "The final CF of your nutrients should be in the range of 1.5 – 1.8,", which means that the EC would be 0.15-0.18 if i'm not mistaken. Now, my plants haven't been growing as fast I'd like and my EC is at 0.16 and i just found this thread:

http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=67869

which says that the max "... should be around CF 24." So EC 2.4. WHICH ONE IS IT!!!! WHAT IS MY EC SUPPOSED TO BE SITTING AT!!!!!!

THanks everybody

Just read a book on ebb and flow systems and it stated that for veg growth 12 (or 1.2 same thing) to 14, a slightly weak solution, bloom about 18 and when using pk 13 14,.. 22 to24 bringing it down to about 18 to 20 for the last few weeks and finishing off the last week with just ph adjusted water..

I use nft and am in veg at the moment and the ec is on 12 and the plants look very healthy. I'm using canna vega and canna flores for nutes. I will follow the same program as above unless somebody convinces me that it is bollocks

Hope this is some help

youre in a bit of a pickle with the decimal point doh.gif

this.. "The final CF of your nutrients should be in the range of 1.5 – 1.8," is just plain wrong your plants will starve at such a low CF

if it were to read "The final CF of your nutrients should be in the range of 15 – 18," then it would make sense

and of course in EC that would say "The final EC of your nutrients should be in the range of 1.5 – 1.8,"

i hope thats clear wink1.gif

its a pitty there's not more harmony between growers. Everyone i know talks in cf though. perhaps the best meter on the market, the trunchion, also states its range primarily in cf if you read the instructions. it then puts ec in brackets, and makes no meansion of ppm (parts per million) as although the scale is on there meter, it simply cant measure ppm, its just guesswork based on the fluids cf (conductive flow)

i dunno what ec actually is. i susspect its a scale designed specifically to do my head in. anyone that talks ec numbers to me, is generally a newbie, and my ears just close before i get in a worthless conversation. (have i belittle anyone enough to change yet? lol.gif)

whats tb? i thought i had jabs against that? wink.gif

electrical conductivity, and conductive flow, both measure exactly the same thing, but move the decimal place. you couldn't make this up could you!

one must be the metric system lol.gif

no different from celsius, centigrade, kelvin, fahrenheit or degrees absolute. it's just different ways of coming to the same conclusion. don't try and cross reference, they're no more than a guide anyway.
i use EC but i'm aware that the figure shown is a measurment of how easily electricity is conducted by the salts in the solution. it doesn't tell me the proportion of each of the salts or even if they are the right kind. my starting figure for my tap water is 0.5 and i haven't a clue what the make up of it is so even after i've added ferts to bring it up to 1.8, there's still a proportion of that mix which is unknown.

Thanks everybody, I figured I was wrong but at least my plants weren't hurt or anything. Whoever is the forum leader should definitely edit the "Hydro Nutrients FAQ" that's permenentaly placed at the top of the forum list since first-time-growers like me may go there for a resource and find out it's wrong!! CF 1.5-1.8?!!!

siemens are in a metric sistem but it is not important In fact I really do not find all of those measurements necessary at least for me I ve been growing in soils only and don`t know allmost anything about hidro.

All I do is looking at the plant all the day and sing to them bhangi bhangi bhangi .Thanks to Gisela . rofl.gif
Untill they become ripe with a very tb tight buds. rofl.gif

Whats tb? A very good one . rofl.gif
