had 1 blue and 2 reds (125w) for about 9 months. Blue looks fine still but one of the reds as lost some of it's brightness.

I used 3 on a grow for about 9weeks then bought 3 more and used all 6 at the same time. You could easily see the difference in brightness between all of the new and old bulbs.
There is no reason why, with careful handling, the bulb wouldnt go on working for many years although your yields will be reduced with each grow

100% defiaintly not true

Possibly true if he's had them running for 2 years
continously. Weasel words you see

Definitely not true if there has been normal grow usage - ie on/off at least once a day.

Are there any signs to watch-out for (other than flickering or simply going-out) that an enviro is on it's way out?
Cheers

i was told in the grow shop that they will simply fail .. unlike an hps which will gradually lose its lumen output
endless search

i used a blue enviro for 2 years plus on 18-6 12-12 24 all sorts and i still got it as back up. the new one is brighter for sure but credit crunch if only used for veg they will last ages no signs to say but they do last a while.

So would the cfl bulbs last longer if used 24/7 than 20 on 4 off?
