Are there any size differences between a 125watt Envirolite and a 200watt as I only have a 125watt but will be upgrading to a 200watt soon and I'd like to not have to move the light fittings.

Thanks

nope, no size differences as far as we know, exactly the same screw in fitting.

Yes there is a difference on some. It is the same light fitting (E40) but the diameter and/or length of the tubes is increased. Unless you are specific about the type it is hard to tell you anything more - eg is it self-ballasted, remote ballasted etc etc.

Envirolite (as in the company name) self-ballasted as seen in the UK420 shop smile.gif

Hi again. All we can tell you is that we bought a 6 way Envirolite reflector. It was on offer as a package along with 125W lamps. When we enquired if we could have 200W lamps instead we were told no problem, same E40 fits both lamps, just an extra charge for upgrading to 200W. All the Envirolites we've seen are self ballasted and pretty much look the same. In the end we went for Ecolite lamps which are basically the same as Envirolites, made in the same factory in China as far as we know. They both look identical, the Ecolite has a green band around the ballast and the Envirolite has an orange band. Slightly different manufacturing spec, but thats about it. Everything has worked out well with the lighting so far, so fingers crossed, hope things stay that way.

Thanks for the info, thought I'd check before screwing the e40 fitting to my microgrow box as the photos on the envirolite site make the 200w look bigger guess the person has really small hands smile.gif

replying on a pda is a pain

OK so this is an old old topic but instead of starting a new one...

I was looking in a big DIY shop last night (I already got a lot of the basic stuff I need from there) and I was looking at light holders or light fittings whatever they are officialy known as... and every single one I looked at bar none had the old "bayonet" light fitting (where the bulb would be smooth with 2 pins, the ones you have in every light socket you push in and turn 90 dgrees) these are no use! Envirolites use that funny screw fitting - how come the local DIY shop doesn't sell the light holders with a screw fitting?

Reading this thread I know you need "E40" light holders but I couldn't find any with a screw fitting.

I see, you can get ceramic E40 sockets, £4 each.

Don't forget it needs the metal back plate to screw it onto a wall or inside your cupboard/wardrobe.

Some of them don't have that metal plate!
