I guess seeds are from you people, after reading through A.C.E. posts, NepJam and OE especially. What sound people you are, and lucky me cool.gif .
Anyways any info about seeds, flowering times and any info, and most importantly i was gona grow skunk#1 as iv read 420 that its a good strain for a first grow. Maybe i should save NJxOE?.
Advice would be much appreciated

Hi N30SS.
light pollution 12/12 time. just to sit in there, all dark? n wonder what electric blue flashes were?? no kidding cry.gif
yes well n truly set up smile.gif

3) Our best strains for novice indoor growers would be Orient Express and Bangi Haze. Nepalese Jam too.
They are mostly sativa hybrids with powerful highs and great tastes. Each on its way. They are quite easy to grow and have reasonable flowering times and good indoor adaptability.

Good day sustenance!

The cross didnt come directly from us but should be interestring to try. I imagine the person who did it and he used very good parents, specially on the nepalese jam side. The cross of 2 different F1's can produce varied offspring but both strains are good for indoor growers and firsts grows. I'd recommend pop them and see what happens smile.gif Good luck! dubi

Some pics of my seedlings, looking ill
this was this morning..
[attachmentid=95650] [attachmentid=95651] [attachmentid=95652]
They seem to have rooted quite well and have now been transfered into 3'' grodan rockwool cubes. They were also definately a bit too wet when i transfered them earlier. Thinking as the youngest seedling seems fine and has only shown a minimal root so perhaps it has been let off as no roots in sodden rockwool?
[attachmentid=95653]
Desktop fan stopped working last night, and this usually evaporated most of the water within 7 hours leaving rockwool just damp to the touch.
otherwise they were all 2'' beneath flouro, humidity has been around 50% and temps around 26oC both +/- 2 to 3.
Rather pee'd off today and not even a smoke to shut me up.
(head in hands winging rather alot)
All advice as always greatly appreciated.

Hi Dubi,
Guess we might be talking about what I crossed? NJ x OE's. ?

I will grow them out next year and as you know, you will see the results. NJ was a particular favourite of mine. Strong plant. OE was weak in comparisson but a very nice end product. Fine wines etc.......

Good day sustenance!

Im glad to hear you have started your first grow. smile.gif

Your seedlings are showing deficiencies. The cause of the problem is the steril (without nutrients and beneficial bacteria ) where you started them.

Are you planning to grow them in soil or hydro with rockwool?

If you are planning to grow them in soil i'd recommend you plant them as soon as possible in a rich and well aerate soil. Rockwool has no nutrients and a different ph than soil, so youll need to calibrate the water correctly and carefully add some liquid nutrients. It's easier plant them directly in soil and let the nature flow (at least for a first grow).

The conditions of your setup seem to be fine. Maybe a little bit more of humidity (60-70 %) would be beneficial for the vegging stage but temps are correct.

Please, keep us updated and ask us any doubt you could have. Happy start! dubi

Hi dubi,
Went for hydro.
Difficultes are a plenty.
PH ongoing problem and in my inexperience im unhappy with phospheric acid.
The roots, when i put the 8 plants into the bigger 3'' grodan rockwool cubes, looked healthy to me? then into hydro under MH.. 4 days ago.. Now roots are onto spreader sheet.
annoyed (to keep it polite) i didn't check A.C.E. seeds post earlier than today.
Can i put these larger rockwool cubes with seedlings/plants into soil, Compost?? or whatever is best? could this be done now, at this stage?
Here's them now..

Good day sustenance!

Yes, correct ph for hydro is a little below than 6 and between 6.5-6.8 for soil.

You can re pot your plants to soil from rockwool without any problem (quit carefully the plastic envolope and plant all the base directly to soil without touch the roots). I indeed like to make the clones in rockwool ( it's clean, effective and allows me to root many clones in a small space) but when i start to see strong roots then i plant them in healthy compost.

I'm a bio grower and i'd never recommend a hydro system for a first grow. Hydro systems are good for experienced growers which have a deep knowledge of the plants and the possible problems that could come. It's a good possibility if you have a long indoor experience and if you wanna maximize the yield in an artificial ambient. You'd need more expensive equipments ( good digital PH and EC tools, water bomb, tank ...). Soil needs less attentions and resists better the failures of the grower ( ph and feeding variations, fungus in the root system ...).

After millions of years of evolution, plants root system have developed a symbiosis relationship with many beneficial bacterial to produce important hormones and enzymes which affect positively the growing and quality (taste and aroma) of the finished product. The beneficial bacteria can not live in an artificial aquatic ambient like hydro systems. That's why hydro systems use mainly chemical feeding.

Please, let us know what kind of grow you finally decide to use and we will try to help you for the rest of the grow. dubi

Good day sustenance!

Im glad to see you re pot them to soil. I have been using Plagron composts this season ( Royal Mix and Bat Mix). They work very nice for the first weeks but after 2-3 weeks the plants start to show deficiencies. You' ll need to use liquid fertilizers frequently. I like to add a nice amount of worm casting ( and guano for the flowering ) to the Plagron mixes. Plants truely apreciate it.

Remember to fully water the new soil after re pot. It's very important for the roots.

In the next days your plants should start to get colour. I hope you have a happy week! oldtoker.gif dubi

Hi dubi.
Heres another post with some concerns and doubts which your help and hints would be greatly appreciated.
My plants are growing fast!!
The colour of the upper leaves are turning yellow and 1 leaf had turned itself upside down cry.gif
I lowered the light 2 days ago, and when they were checked yesterday they were looking unhappy. Searched forums here and came up with; the light was to low. 50cm or 20" from plants canopy,
so light was raised instantly, to 95cm/ 37" above canopy. This afternoon plants are looking happier although upper leaves are remaining yellow.
I do understand that if this was the problem, it's going to take a few days to correct itself?
If the light was plants only problem?
monday 2nd Oct, i gave plants some Bio-Bizz Bio-Grow. They got 0.5ml per Litre of water, and were all watered a total of 4 Litres.
Last 3 nights they were watered between 3 and 4 Litres, with 1ml per litre of Bio-Grow.
I've also found by search that plants may have a Magnesium deficiancy?
Was tempted this eve to give them some epsom salts, but i have with-held, as lower leaves are a sign of Mg def.? doubts here also?
8 plants growing fast!! and im knowing that im not going to have room, so am wondering when to sex my plants? ready for eviction of males?
And finally, when roots appear at holes in bottom of pots whether to re-pot in intermediate size pots, im thinking maybe they're in that size pots now? so into large pots? and whether to continue with Plagron light mix or to use another compost richer in nutrients which is what i'm tempted to do.
[attachmentid=98379][attachmentid=98380][attachmentid=98381][attachmentid=98382][attachmentid=98383][attachmentid=98384][attachmentid=98385][attachmentid=98386]
temps have been between 23 and 27 and Rh has been between 41 and 59% theres a humidifier going into room tomorrow and i'll see how that effects things?
Apolagies for such a long post, a whole lot has happened in 6 days! biggrin.gif
Thanks.. Sustenance

Good day sustenance!

Your plants are looking much better! thumbsup.gif They are enjoying the change to soil!

How many watts are you using ? I dont think the distance is the problem. 50 cm is a good distance for the lamp if temps and humidity are correct.

It's difficult to tell from here. Maybe the light mix is low in nutrients. Are you watering with ph between 6.5-6.8?

Increase a little the feeding of Bio Grow to 1ml/litre next week. It's a good idea to get a soil mix richer in nutrients for the next steps (add some guano and worm compost).

Now they are starting to grow vigorously. 10-14 days more of vegetative and they should be ready to flower.

Have a nice day! wink1.gif dubi

Hi there,

Bit of advise maybe.

Think that from your last images and from your previous posts I would surmise IMHO that the plants have been over-watered and under fed considering the compost. I use Westland Multi with added JI and at your stage of growth I would rarely add nutes, maybe Grow at about 0.5ml/L depending on strain.
Over watering can cause serious root problems in early growth. Try and acheive a healthy root mass before re-potting. Always err on the dry side rather than the wet side. Lot less problems considering the intrensic characteristics of the plants that we are growing.

Your insects appear to be Fungus Gnats, annoying little buggers, but can easily be eradicated by 25cm layer of sharp sand on top of compost to suffocate the newly spawned and loads of fly tape stuck on to cardboard strips and placed on any free areas at ground level in the grow enviro. Stockings used as filters over your intakes can solve the problem at source. Nice black lace ones. wink1.gif
sustenance
Hi Embalmer.
I guess you mean 2.5 cm sharp sand.
I'll do this tomorrow, and some fly tape stuck on to cardboard strips, although i've seen nothing moving in grow space since the last post here, when plants got some scotts bug clear, which seemed to sort out what i thought to be thripp.
Thanks a whole lot for advice,

Sustenance, your plants are looking very healthy and robust. Im glad to see they are growing quite uniform and compact. Good for an indoor grow. They are showing chinese and nepalese growing traits.

The first plants looks like has suffered some kind of overwatering, bad ventilation or some kind of fungus in the soil. Let quite dry the soil before water again the plant. Root system likes cycles of dry stage and then abundant water.

All mix is a very nice compost for flowering. If you can add some guano in polm.

Im completly agree Embalmer. You can get better results making your own mix and spend less money. Fertilizer companies usually add too much coco to their mixes. Their mixes are good for the first 2 weeks, but not for a long grow in the same pot. But All mix from Bio Bizz is one of the best commercial mixes (it has some extra worm casting). It's a good option if you want everything ready to re pot.

Yunnan is a great indica domiant strains. Im indeed tasting the first dried chinese buds of the season smoke.gif I specially love the taste and pleasant high of a good chinese. The yield is usually very high for a pure strain although buds are quiteleafy and not excessively dense. That's why we crossed the chinese with the vietnamese black mother. To add flower/leaf ratio, higher mold resistance and denser flowers. I hope we can offer some pure chinese in limited preservationist edition for 2007.
