Hi all, i just had a short power cut.

When the power came on 10secs, the ballast did not re-ignite, it just started ticking faintly.

luckily i was in the g/r when it happened, so i could turn it of and let the ballast cool before re-igniting it.

would the ballast continue to tick forever?

is there any way to prevent this happening?

Thanks

If you were will to spend the money you could pick up a computer UPS. This would cover you for short outages.

so would the ballast turn on after a couple of mins of ticking?
also does anybody know why this happens, and if it is harming the ballast?

Thanks,

I think it happens because the ballast is trying to ignite the bulb - but a hot bulb will not ignite - so it just keeps trying. I'm not sure, but I don't reckon it's great for the health of the ballast!
