just bought one, set it up, working fine, but is open connection and no padlock thing on it, which the others in my range are showing. anyone know how to set it up, or know a good website which might help?

Stamp on it repeatedly, then take it back to the shop in box. That's what i did to mine, got me money back too! Dumb bastards didn't even look in the box!

there may well be a control panel for your router thingy which you can access with a web browser. It should be accessible using this IP address :
http://192.168.1.1Have a look and a poke around and see what happens... or wait til someone more techie than me replies

mr church the manual just tells me how to set the fucker up and thats all. it then goes on to tell me i can pay £90 to have a professional come out and set it up and tweak it. man fuck that! ive been to the homepage and it is full of utter bullshit

I have a Belkin wireless router.
You just need to config it as everyone else has said.
I think the default for belkin is 192.168.2.1
Once In there just click of security and there ya go.

The last place you would look to get router advise is on a weed forum but glad I helped.

Type 192.168.2.1 into your internet browser. Then use the 64 bit WEP security mode to generate a WEP key for you. Once this is in place your machine is pretty secure.
