Hi!!

Ugh, bad situation, got to clone papaya plants, but missing rockwoolcubes..
Could someone recommend any other ways to get those clones rooted without cubes? (excluding air layering technigue..)
Trying to success with clay pellets and Olivia's Cloning Gel.. But do I have much hope?
Would be shame to lose those strains
Would it be more trustful to use only a glass of water or soil, or with clay pellets?

Any help is more than needed.. Hope some one of you professionals could help me on this..?

ok.

1 Large empty margerine tub

1 dual line airpump (I have an elite 802)
1 meter or so of airline
2 large 'toblerone' stones

Punch holes for the clones with a hot tip or nail in the top of the butter carton.
Put two holes in the side of the carton near the top so you can insert the tubing.

Fill container with ph water. turn on bubbles


Take the cuttings as normal and dip into rooting hormone and then place in the holes in the lid and keep well lit under fluoros or blue enviro.

Try in soil, as good as rockwool

I have used a peat pot (or any small pot), potting compost and rooting powder, keep warm and moist..2weeks later one plant

perlite is fantastic , was real impresses with last cloning

i use pearlite,but give it a good soaking[the pearlite]as it keeps any dust down then.

I then stick 'em in an unheated propagator under cfl's,18/6 usually.

Water will work on it's own,but i used to do that for indoor plants[not Canna]and sometimes the roots don't take in soil if you leave them for long.

Best light regime for rooting clones is 24/0

clone on the plant, think its called Air layering.

slice 1/3 into a node apply root hormone, pack slice with moist coco, somehow cover cut with a bit of coco maby a 1/3 of size of small rw cube.

cover in cotton then alli foil keep moist not alot of watering is needed as the clone is still living off main plant.


When you see roots opon opening foil its time to cut away from plant.




Another bend a sten to the soil, slice at node , gel, and hold down with a hook of type keeping near cut well covered and moist. This i have done by accident and works vine under the canopy with little light veg or flower.
