Howdy Guys,

Growing in a wardrobe using enviros. Looking for a fem strain thats a quick finisher, preferably with a high yield. New to this game so she would have to be a fairly forgiving little princess with low / medium odour. Am currently germing some Easy Bud from Female Seeds but I've heard that the smoke is shite, we'll see. This is my first grow, so if i'm asking too much let me know.

Cheers

If this is your first grow and are in need of a strain that will be forgiving i'd steer well clear of fem'ed seeds, it doesn't take much to turn them into hermies.

Really? I thought they'd be more "user friendly" than standard seeds. How can i avoid turning them into hermies? The temp is between 30 and 34 degrees and humidity at 20%. I have a small air inlet fan (via ducting) and am due to fit extraction and carbon filter in a couple of weeks.

What would the ideal conditions be?

Cheers for the knowledge.

any stress on a feminised plant is likely to make it go hermie, high temperatures might do it - the ideal temperature range is roughly 25 - 28 degrees C. Light leaks will almost certainly do it - make sure no light at all leaks in during the dark period .

my first grow was skunk #11 (fem skunk #1) and I had a plant go hermie and it seeded the entire crop, I wish I'd gone with regular seeds for my first grow now, ending up with a bag full of seed on your first grow can be somewhat disapointing to say the least. wink1.gif

Hi. LIke you, I am a new grower and was also looking for a low odour female. I'm also growing on enviros (200W blue for veg, 200W red for flower). I went for Grapefruit and put 4 in soil. All 4 were female. The instructions say to put them on 12/12 1 week after germination & I would recommend this. After putting them on 12/12 I kept them on the blue enviro for 1.5 weeks before moving to the red lamp. Grapefruit really grows once you put it on 12/12 and 2 of the 4 really grew high. As I'm cramped for space, I put a wire mesh above them about 2 weeks into 12/12 and bent the branches under the screen. This works wonders with the flowers, as you get lots & lots of buds forming along the main branch and going to the surface. Mine are flowering nicely and I now have around 6 largeish buds forming, with lots of smaller ones coming to the surface too. I should point out that it hardly smells at all (yet) - I have no odour control going at all and don't need it (I stress - YET). I used BioGrow for the short veg and BioBloom for throughout flower and the ladies seem to love it.

As already voiced don't bother with feminised. Its not hard to sex a cannabis plant. My experience was with fem seeds was hermies and buds with occasional seeds. However the smoke was nice and potent. My faves aren't feminised.

Although don't let that let you experimenting.

Go for it
