Hi guys
After many hours of seaching the net for a company that sells mesh of all sizes at a resonable price i found this http://www.plastok.co.uk/textile.htm
If you are going to get some of this mesh for hash making you will need the polypropylene stuff because its water proof and doesn't stretch. I hope this saves some time when looking for mesh wink.gif

will they supply in small quantities ?

I got some 43T on Ebay (150 micron) but I've a feeling it may be a bit fine for the (dry) tumbler I have planned.

Useful link, thanks!

Incidentally, I noticed the polypropylene only goes down to 105µ. If you want smaller (which you probably will) you'll have to go for another material.

Currently I am just using a cheap silk scarf, of the type you can get for a fiver at any Indian Retail Clothing Emporium. I have estimated the mesh at 75µ more or less, and it does a rather good job (I don't worry about losing the larger trichs, since I wash the leftover with IPA). It does stretch and deform, though, but for a fiver I ain't complaining.

I made enquiries to these folks a few months back and got this reply ....

"Our minimum order quantity of EACH mesh is usually 1 square metre.

Price per sq would be as below (4 squares per square meter)

: 45 micron x 0.036mm wire @ £66.00 per square meter
: 75 micron x 0.053mm wire @ £48.00 per square meter
: 120 micron x 0.09mm wire @ £38.00 per square meter
: 160 micron x 0.0075mm wire @ £44.00 per square meter
: 190 micron x 0.09mm wire @ £62.00 per square meter
: 220 micron x 0.14mm wire @ £34.00 per square meter

this is all Ex Vat

Bit pricey i thought

The stuff i looked at was metal weave mesh .. probably the best bet is to just order samples from them and not get back in touch biggrin.gif

they wont rip, but u might get a ladder. yahoo.gif

well i used to work in a clothing store and they sold tights. and no, i dont have a fetish for nylons, though they are ideal for robbing a bank, that is, if you get the right colour.

basically, they start at 7 denier which is the finest and then go up to 70 denier, which is the thickest.
if u want any thicker, you have to use acrylic or wool which wouldnt be too good for the bud i dont think.
anyways most tights should be a mixture of nylon,lycra/spandex.

i think about a 15/20 denier should be fine, and if not, just double it. i havent tried it, but they do have good filtering qualities, i would say. anyways, if in doubt, ask the missus.

i'll be getting loads of complaints now, when all the tights go missing in the house whistling.gif

I've decided - at least in the first instance, that I want flavour. And the finest grade bubble hash is most likely lacking in that. Since I've never had good conventional hash, I thought I'd grow a diverse range of genetics and make my own .... albeit without the dust that must stick to plants growing outdoors.

So I have 4 months to get the bits together for a tumbler smile.gif
