ec and cf are easy.....both measurements of the electrical conductivity of a solution ,cf being greater by a factor of 10 ,i.e. ec1.0=cf10
tds is a bit harder...measured in ppm (parts per million) its derived from the electrcal conductivity measured but then converted into a ppm figure to give a reading.the conversion depends on the factor emplyed by the manufacturer.
basically its a guess coz no one knows what makes up your nute solution its different in everybodies tank, some pens will be calibrated to meausure the concentrations of swimming pools for instance ,obviously a totally different chemical mix to what we use for hydro .
stateside they will often quote ppm and alongside the conversion factor used, far easier to stich to either cf or ec imho

hi bob
i asked the same question a while back as i wasnt sure what was what
it goes something like
ec of 2.0 is cf of 20 and so on .
peppi

ahh, simple! cool, i was just wandering to fork out more to get a t.d.s. meter.
Thanks guys!
