Hello people,

I am currently using the Biobizz range of nutes - Grow,Bloom,Fishmix and Topmax. I recently got my first job in my new career and I have to head abroad for 9 weeks on a training course. A house mate has agreed to feed and check on my garden while I'm away. Couldn't help the timing...got the job as a considerable number were just starting to veg. I have been showing him some pointers as he has no experience in growing. I am a bit worried about the feeding though and came up with the idea of filling one or two 20-30 litre fermentation buckets with premixed nute solution so he doesn't have to measure out the dosages everytime and possibly mess it up. Would this be ok or would the solution degrade over time? The bucket has a lid so it can be sealed. I made up a solution in a 5 litre container last week and found that last night when I went to use it there was a slight pong, although not that bad, coming from it (didn't use the Fishmix btw). The cap was on tightly all the time. There was also a small amount of sediment in the solution. Is this normal and is it ok to use it like this? I saw in the POT TV video posted a while back where they set up a grow room and it included filling a large bucket with nutrient solution which obviously was going to be used over the period of the entire grow.
One last thing, is it ok to mix Topmax with Grow and Bloom? Saw a post where it was advised to apply this seperately to the others. Is this advisable or does it make any difference?

I don't think this range of nutrients is good for Hydroponics - they're aimed at Organic Compost grows.
But you should use them as soon as you mix them.

Arnold, me old mucker wink.gif .

Can you just clarify to me that when it says 'use as soon as it's mixed', does that mean use it on the day and then get rid of all the excess immediately? Or can the mixture be used for a couple of days (btw, i'm only at seedling stage, day 3 or so in rockwool and a propogater, will be growing in compost ).

Many thanks wise one
VRG
You should mix and use immediatly, discard any excess.

wildseed... just leave him the water, with detailed instructions on the nutrient dosage's. He shouldn't go far wrong. wink1.gif

Cheers mate, thought as much but just wanted confirmation.

There's a lot more to come spliff.gif

storing mixed nutes is no problem at all as long as they are kept away from air heat and light, ie, air tight bottles cool dry place that is also dark(algea).
ity is fine to do this i had to mix aload for similar reasons, i have checked same mix weeks later and they are still reading same on meters (stayed stable) as for the nutes they are all chelated so are diluted and mixed in to the water (just like storing juice for baby in fridge...nothing wrong at all) the sediment on the surface is dissolved salts(just shake) before use.
i remember advising sirbobgeldof somthing similar in a previous post, maybe you could find out how he got on?
hope this helps

i think he is growing organic stylee as it says in profile, i cant see where he mentions hydro, but if so then yeah wrong nutes.
you can store mixed nutes (even ph balanced/adjusted nutrients) for a considerable time (certainly thru an entire grow period) without any detrimental affects at all, if any change whatsoever...as long as stored in the correct manner...try it yinyang.gif

He is using BioBizz organic nutrients, they need to be used immediatly... they contain no chemical salts. wink1.gif

Thanks for the advice mates. I was thinking of going hydro with a Wilma system. Thing is I want to keep it as organic as possible. All the nutes for hydro I 've looked at ...Canna,Hesi,etc , all seem to be non-organic. Even the Biocanna range from Canna is aimed at soil grow, not hydroponics. Tell me what you think of the most common nutes for hydro. Do they impart a chemical taste on the buds? compared to organic nutes? Are there any good organic nutes for hydro?
It looks like the Biobizz range is intended for compost grows but I had a look at their website and it states this under the Grow and Bloom product descriptions:

Bio-Grow is a liquid plant food that promotes lush growth and is suitable for almost all soil mixtures. It is a fertilizer and soil activator that can be used with drip irrigation systems. Bio-Grow can be used late in flowering as a plant tonic.

Bio-Bloom natural bloom formula is a complete fertilizer used from the beginning of a fruit or flower production until harvest. It is packed with naturally occurring minerals, micronutrients, amino acids, and hormones of vegetable origin to ensure exuberant flowers and fruit sets. Bio-Bloom can be applied through manual watering or automatic drip irrigation systems.

They say that that they can be used with drip systems. Perhaps they mean a non-recirculation drip system. Even then, the solution would have been premixed and let stand for a good length of time, such as a week or more in the reservoir.
Would it work do ye think?
Has anyone ever tried the Biobizz range in a hydroponic system such as a Wilma pot system? How did it go?I emailed Biobizz with some questions eralier today. I will post back any reply here.

Here's the reply from Biobizz:

For hydro you can use without any problem: Topmax, Biobloom and
Rootjuice
For hydro you can use as a spray: Alg-a-Mic and Fishmix, till the
second
week of flowering.

For fishmix, biogrow (and Alg-a-mic): they don't preform well in a
storagetank. If you make the nutes with water and use it straight away,
it's not a problem. Topfeeding by hand solves a lot of problems as
well.

Use at least 4 mm pipes for your dripper system and you'll be just fine

For Coco : Stick to the lightmix shedule plus 15% increased dosage.
Find
the shedule on our website www.biobizz.nl or .com. If the Biogrow or
fishmix clogg up your pipes: add them as a topfeed watering by hand
two-three times a week.

Biobizz products are free of preservatives, so if you store fishmix or
biogrow in combination with still water it will decompose within 1-2
days, and the pH will go down rapidly. You can still use it, but since
it does not look so sexy anymore, we do not advise it.

Topmax, Biobloom and rootjuice can be stored in a tank but use a
circulation pump at all times, and don't keep it longer then one week.

Hope this helps others. Seems the grow and fishmix are not recommended for hydro- they are really thick/viscous and break down very quickly whereas the Bloom and Topmax are very thin like water. I may give it a go with a hydro setup. Maybe some hand feeding in conjunction with hydro.
