Okay, so they may produce seedlines from other seedbanks, but at least they give everyone the chance to try them at a price that don't matter if you feck it up yahoo.gif

does anybody know exactly WHY they are so cheap? how can dp or sensi charge high amounts and nirvana charge so little? is it solely because they aren't the original strains? with most other things in life u pay less for lesser quality and more for higher quality. nea.gif

Probably because the other seedbanks keep prices far higher than they need to to ensure high profit margins!

It is said that they spend more on research and genetic selection etc...
TightBud
i havent found anything wrong with them so far
this is five weeks
four full flower/one week for them to sort their photo period

Man, this question has been done to death, so much here as on every other mj forum on the Net in this and every other parallel universe.

Can't we just have it in a FAQ, or pinned or something?

Here's the main things I'd include:

1) There's nothing basically wrong with Nirvana, and they are not "that cheap", simply entry level. Other breeders like KC Brains, Mandala, Sativa Seedbank, etc. charge about the same.

2) It'a a bit daft to ask about Nirvana seeds in general, a look at their catalogue will show 5 pages or so of strains. It would be impossible to generalise totally over so many different seed types.

3) They are on the whole quite good for beginners, especially rank beginners who are error-prone. Some of the expensive seeds can be quite difficult to grow (and some very easy smile.gif ), at least here the investment is small if something goes wrong. Remember that there is a surprising number of people trying to grow who have never even grown as much as a (non-mj) pot plant before. Bound to make some silly mistakes then.

4) Nirvana copy a lot of other breeders work. This can make them morally questionable in the eyes of some people.

5) However, Nirvana also have some F1 strains of their own. These can be quite good, and some of them are very popular.

6) In general, Nirvana indicas are good and easy. More of a question mark over their sativas, at least for beginner ease.

6) Be careful when you hear newbs trashing Nirvana (or anything else). The cause is very often their own (sometimes quite basic) mistakes.

7) There is a lot better stuff than Nirvana. Then again there is a lot worse. Probably the Ford Cortina (practical / basic) of seedbanks.

8) If you are asking this question, chances are it's more important to pay attention to basic growing principles. If you are on a tight budget, though, a traawl through Nirvana's (and other similar cheap breeders) catalogues cab reveal some gems.

If the fancy takes you, try them!
Not much more you can say, really, IMHO.

Good stuff people im well glad you all think there alright. Someone told me they were shite and i thought thats why there so cheap. I got nirvanas big bud and bubblelicious. I cant remember what one im growing, i germ'd 5 of em and killed 4...i know maybe gardening aint the best thing for me. No jokes it just coz i neglected em and managed to save one. I dont know whether its big bud or bubblelicious though! So theres nothing wrong with nirvana then. Heres a pic of my plant its about 3 months and im sort of just swicthing between my warddrobe and outside. I cant leave in my wardrobe coz i aint got no ex fan so every hours i have to open the doors and leave the fan on to get some fresh air in there. Have a look and let me know what you think.... still dont know if its male or female yet. Any suggestions?

Nah this was the first time - it's drying now.... just in that annoying period between harvest and dryness!
barnzo
how long did it take from seed to harvest? Did you have any probs with it? I bet thats gets you well stoned! well glad i got the seeds for that. What others you grown before?
Muppet
Hi Barnzo, i grew out some bubblelicious out, had 3 girls outta 5 beans, flowerin' times were 8, 9 and 13 weeks! Yup, they all got me stoned. The one i kept as a mum is a resin monster, but not the fastest of growin' plants and takes at least 3 weeks to root, but it's got a very sedatin' stone that always puts a smile on ya face regardless of the kind of day ya've had. 13.gif And she's so easy to grow (once she's rooted rolleyes.gif ) i'd done a coupleof cut's that ain't dropped a leaf in the 8 weeks she takes to flower. The other 2 were much more vigious and better yeildin' but tho they defo got you stoned they didn't strike me as special, Bubba #1 did. wink1.gif

In fact i'd just decided to flower all me mum's of and start from fresh from the stash of beans i've aquired but not had space/time/chance to grow yet and have gone as far as freein' them from their little 1 ltr pots, but i think i may have to take a cut or two from bubba for future stress relief, in fact i may have to dip into her jar right now.....

Oh and she won COTC..... cool.gif

are the nirvana strains any genetic relation to the original strains?

i have got bubblelicious, and the info for it is the same as bubblegum, are they related or have nirvana just bred their own plant and labelled it with the bubblegum name?

I reckon it's pirated genetics yinyang.gif

I ordered the Nirvana 4 pack awhile back. I picked up AK48, Bubblicious, Cali-O, and White Widow. I grew out a few White Widows and got a few males. I choose one and used his pollen on a Diamond Head female that I had. I also grew out a few AK's and got one female. The AK is a great strain, very frosty and very potent. This strain is well worth the $12.50 I paid for it. I think Nirvana is a decent seed company it's just you got to choose the better strains that they have. I've heard some bad reports on alot of thier strains but most of the time thier more popular strains such as the AK's and the White Rhinos get good reports. What can you expect for seeds that cost $20 a pack. Sooner or later I'll get to growing out the others.

I've only grown niravana's seeds once, they was White Rhino they were lovely till the 9th week of 12/12 when these lil shoots started to shoot out of the colas eek.gif this was a couple of years ago now, but at the time i posted a post on another website and some bloke replyed, saying that the same thing had happend to him, i still dont really know why this happend 34.gif apart from at the time some1 said it could be heat stress, but it a shame coz before the lil shoots come out the bud looked "shit hot" i dont really think i will bother with niravana again and it's a shame coz there nice an cheap. cry.gif
